Happy Chuseok and Mooncake Festival everyone.
It is the countdown to the school holidays and I am spending tonight at home. At first I thought about going out but then I figured it would be good to relax at home.
My parents and brothers are away so I am eating noodles tonight. Too lazy to cook for one person. Later, I will be watching my anime 'Fruits Basket' about the animals in the Chinese zodiac. Quite interesting!
So let me tell you a bit about Chuseok cos I think that Butterfly Angel will be blogging about Mooncake Festival.
Chuseok is also Thanksgiving for Koreans. Usually around Mooncake Festival time, Korean families have 3 days to return to their hometown and meet the elders. They also would have special dishes and pray at their ancestors grave. (This is where the bowing part is important. Similar to the marriage bow. Refer to Hello Miss! drama. )
"Chuseok, originally known as Hangawi (한가위) (from archaic
Korean for "great middle"), is a major
harvest festival and a three-day holiday in
Korea celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar
Korean calendar. As a celebration of the good
harvest, Koreans visit their ancestral hometowns and share a feast of Korean traditional food." Wikipedia (Definitely always during mooncake festival)
Another wonderful thing is also the 'hanboks' that the men, women and children wear. Usually bright and colourful, even the men take to wearing pastel colours.
