the "ravage for the relays" sweepstakes come to a close:

DAY 8:

.................Gold...........Silver...........Bronze..........Total

US................12.................8.................7................27

AUS..............6.................5.................3..................12

PMC: 8 (6 gold, 2 bronze)

highlights:
- ingeeeee totally dominated the event in which she has 9 of the top 10 times, the 50 free, as she took home the gold.
- world record holder and defending olympic champion, grant hackett, won the 1500 free, but wasn't as dominant as expected as american larsen jensen and brit david davies were only 2 seconds behind as they gathered up the silver and bronze respectively
- the us took an early lead with coughlin and beard, but petria thomas and jodie henry took it home for australia to win gold with a new world record in the 4x100 medley relay.
- the us was dominant throughout the 4x100 medley, starting with the world record form aaron piersol and on through the order with hansen, crocker and lezak taking it home with a world record.

the battle for the pool is over, and it is again the us who has won in convincing fashioin. but for the australians, there is always 2008 to try and dethrone the americans as kings and queens of the pool.
