I'm pretty upset at this moment in time. Where better to vent then my journal that is open on the internet for all to see.
So to begin, I live in a dorm. It is apartment style, so I share it with 3 other people. I have one roommate, and 2 suite mates.
So one Saturday morning, I wake up to the voices of my roommate, suite mate, and two other voices I've never heard talking out in the living room area of the dorm. I hear the word hamster, and I think "Oh, someone is showing a picture of a cute hamster." My roommate loves little (and big) animals...then again, who doesn't
So I get up, go about my daily routine that morningafternoon. My computer was acting weird so I was going to geek squad. I walk into the living to see a small cage and my roommate holding a small hamster...well I guess it was normal sized...And my suite mate nowhere to be seen, but that's normal...she's never here.
So I play with the hamster a little because it's hard to resist. It's cage, we notice is too small for her, and that she really wants to run around, so my roommate asks me to run out and get a hamster ball. I just agree because I figure that this hamster won't be around, it's against the rules of the dorm.
Let me repeat, it is AGAINST THE RULES TO HAVE A HAMSTER HERE!
I don't really talk to my suite mate much, so it's not like I can just say "hey, get that hamster out of here."
So we kept it for the weekend. On Monday, I raised questions about keeping it here. I didn't want to get in trouble, and I didn't want my other 2 dorm mates to get in trouble. So we were going to talk to the hamster owning roommate.
The problem is, she's ALWAYS GONE
WHAT WAS THE POINT OF BRINGING A LIVE ANIMAL HERE IF YOU AREN'T GOING TO TAKE CARE OF IT. MY ROOMMATE AND I TOOK MORE CARE OF IT THEN SHE PROBABLY DID IN HER LIFE!
-phew- okay...done yelling for now.
We moved the cage from the living room area into our room because the other dorm mates weren't around, so we didn't want to go into their room without their permission.
So it's 5:30am and I was violently woken up by the sounds of wheezing; it was almost like a tiny scream. This jolts my roommate and I awake and towards the cage, where we see the hamster stationary and breathing harshly. We call all around to the 24 hour vets and find that the only vet that can help is located an hour and thirty minutes away.
I have class in 4 hours, theres no way I'm driving down there and potentially missing class for something that isn't my job to take care of.
So it is probably around 5:00am that I can say
R.I.P. Ruby
That poor hamster...we were going to talk about finding it a better place to stay since the owner is never here nor seems to care for it.
It could of lived longer...but it didn't...
So I'm awake, very tired, but unable to go back to sleep. I'm just full of almost calm anger (if that's even possible)....I want to lash out at the girl but I don't at the same time because that's not the type of person I am. Right now I just want to talk to my mom, but I have to wait until I believe she's awake...
So I figured I'd study for this quiz that's about to come up at 9:30...
This was all just an unfortunate event...and I wish it never happened on my time...
Thanks for reading...
