Kids Next Door Recruiting Post
[ You thought it was going to be a regular day.
If you are or appear to be 12 years old or younger, though?
There's a chance that it might not be....
OPTION A
You're sitting in class at the elementary school, when you notice a small drawing in the bottom right corner of your textbook. After you turn the page, you notice another one. And another. Eventually, you figure it out: someone has made a flip book out of your textbook.
So of course, you couldn't resist. You flipped the pages, and your book was one of the following:
- A girl with little blond pigtails and a sweet smile, suddenly transforming into a giant hideous monster and breathing fire onto the surrounding houses. A literal army of tiny stick figures then comes after it with weapons and laser beams and kung fu and so on and so forth. The kids topple the monster and stand on its body victoriously.
- A milkman's truck driving and running over a cat, then a dog, then scattering a group of children who were playing in the street, runs over the ball they were playing with. The children cry, and then the truck gets shot up by a flying school bus and starts spilling milk everywhere as the wheels fall off and it collapses in a heap. The children gather around it to laugh.
- Something else in this vein of logic, starring the other Mayfield NPCs.
But whatever book you got, the back cover of the book will have the same thing drawn on it with markers: [WE ARE KND.]
... Well? Will you go and discover what this means?
OPTION B
You're walking out of the comic book store, when suddenly, you see a sign: It's a picture of an arrow, leading toward a seemingly random direction. Should you decide to follow it, you'll eventually find another arrow. If you follow that arrow, you'll find yet another arrow, although this time it was somewhat more hidden. Continuing on in this fashion, the arrows are more and more well hidden as yo go, and you start to realize that you're being lead all around town, and sometimes to places you've already been. Any adult would be sick of this wild goose chase by now. They would be bored. But not you. You're a kid. You have a strong sense of wonderment and curiosity, and you can't bear to have come this far and turn back.
The final arrow is on a random tree. It points up. Underneath the arrow is a number: "1."
You may be frustrated at this point, and give up. But eventually, you'll realize that the tallest tree in town is the gigantic one with the treehouse, on Cunningham Lane. Is that where the arrows were leading you?
OPTION C
You notice Nigel at the elementary school cafeteria, advertising for the Kids Next Door just as he always has. Only, now his shades are cooler. And he's got nice hair, too! Whatever the case, something is compelling you to talk to him.... ]
