Summary: Donghae meets an alluring man at a bar. Without meaning to, Donghae gets pulled into the man's world, much deeper than he had ever intended.
“Hyung, if Kyuhyun wouldn’t shoot me, I could kiss you right now.” Donghae took in the fancy restaurant, impressed. Even dressed in his best suit (bought for half off thanks to his charming the sales-noona, Donghae would proudly say), he felt out of place in the sleek, high-class atmosphere.
“Well, I have to thank you for putting up with Kyuhyun,” replied Sungmin as the host showed them to their reserved table. “I don’t think anyone has ever stayed with him this long before.”
“How did you manage to make a reservation?” asked Donghae, opening his fancily bound menu.
“I know the owner,” said Sungmin casually, as though knowing the owner of the most popular restaurant in the city was an everyday thing. “We took martial arts together back in the day when neither of us were black belts yet.”
“Are you sure you can afford this?” Donghae winced at the sky high prices.
“Feel free to order anything you want,” Sungmin encouraged him. “It’s my treat.”
“Okay.” Donghae pointed to the most expensive item on the menu. “I want that.”
Sungmin glared at him, an expression that would have scared the pants off Donghae if he hadn’t known him. “Don’t be cheeky. I can see why you get along so well with Kyuhyun,” he muttered as their maître d' approached the table.
Donghae ordered a dish that was considerably less expensive and savored the flavorful wine as they waited for their food.
“So how is work going?” Sungmin asked, swirling his wine in his wineglass. “Making any progress?”
Donghae shook his head. “We’re still on square one.”
“You must’ve had some kind of breakthrough by now,” Sungmin frowned.
Donghae mulled over this for a moment. “Well, maybe square one and a half,” he amended. “How about you? Studio still up and running?”
Sungmin smiled brightly. “Yeah. A lot of people have become interested in learning martial arts lately so I’ve had many new students.”
Donghae nodded and rolled the wine over his tongue. “This wine is really good,” he commented.
“Only the best wine for Sungmin. Or else he would kick my ass back to China,” said a slightly accented voice from behind Donghae.
“Hangeng!” Sungmin greeted, standing up to hug the man. “Thank you so much for getting me a reservation on such short notice.”
“Consider it repayment for helping me choose which wine goes with each course.” The man turned to smile at Donghae. “Hello, my name is Hangeng. I am the owner of this restaurant.”
Donghae stood up hastily to shake his hand. “I’m Donghae.”
“If you need anything tonight, just call me over.” Hangeng suddenly swiveled towards the door. “Ah, Heechul!” He waved at someone who just entered. “You made it.”
“I said I would come, didn’t I?” said a new voice irritably. Donghae twisted in his seat to see the newcomer.
The recent arrival, Heechul, had effeminate features. Had Donghae seen him at a distance, he would have assumed he was a girl. His sharp eyes seemed to see through everything. They lingered on Donghae for a second before snapping back up.
“I have your usual table ready,” said Hangeng, smiling affectionately at Heechul.
“You better,” warned Heechul, but there was no trace of malice in his voice. “Hyukjae, are you just going to stand like an idiot at the door? I don’t have all night.”
Donghae’s heart thudded uncomfortably hard in his chest at the name. He shifted his field of vision to the person Heechul was addressing.
Sure enough, making his way over grudgingly was Lee Eunhyuk, dressed in an ebony suit that contrasted sharply with his alabaster skin and dyed hair. Donghae wondered if Eunhyuk could possibly be more handsome (disregarding the unenthusiastic expression Eunhyuk was wearing).
“Come on,” said Hangeng as he led Heechul and Eunhyuk away to their table. Donghae shifted uneasily in his seat as Eunhyuk passed him without sparing a sign of recognition.
“Oh, our food is here!”
Donghae was so engrossed in tracking Eunhyuk’s movements that he didn’t even notice the arrival of his dish until Sungmin spoke up. Picking up his fork, he popped a mushroom into his mouth. It was good, he noted absentmindedly.
“So, Kyuhyun tells me you’re interested in someone,” said Sungmin offhandedly. “Who’s the lucky girl?”
Donghae nearly choked on the mouthful he was munching. “There’s no girl,” he coughed out, taking a sip of wine to clear his throat.
“Who’s the lucky guy?” Sungmin corrected himself.
“I’m not interested in anyone,” Donghae denied. “Besides, with work going the way it is, I don’t have time for a love life.”
Sungmin gave Donghae an amused grin. “The fishy doth protest too much, methinks.” Donghae scowled at Sungmin as the martial artist rose from his seat and placed his neatly folded napkin on the table. “Quick bathroom break. I’ll be right back. Be prepared for some tough interrogation.”
“Kyuhyun needs to stop teaching you things,” grumbled Donghae.
Sungmin laughed. “I teach him more things though.” With a suggestive wink, the older man left in search of the restroom.
Donghae finished off the rest of his food, staring into outer space. Eyeing Sungmin’s half finished cuisine, he wondered if it was as delicious as his own. Deciding Sungmin wouldn’t mind, he reached over with his spoon and stole some. Yum, scrumptious.
Donghae saw Sungmin slip back into his seat out of the corner of his eye. “That was a short bathroom break,” Donghae commented. “Hyung, what did you order? It’s really good!”
“That’s Hangeng’s Beijing Fried Rice,” said a voice that decidedly not Sungmin’s.
Donghae jolted and nearly dropped his silverware. Because sitting across from him in Sungmin’s seat with an annoyed expression was none other than Eunhyuk.
“So exactly how many guys are you sleeping with?” demanded Eunhyuk without so much of a greeting.
Donghae frowned. “Nice to see you again too,” he said pointedly.
“Just answer the question,” Eunhyuk commanded.
“I should be asking you that,” retorted Donghae. “After all, I’m not the one that goes around picking up guys at bars for one night stands.”
Eunhyuk’s eyes darkened, and he stood up. “Come on. Let’s go talk in a more private place.” He started walking towards the door and paused when he noticed that no one was following him. “Are you coming?”
Donghae hesitated for a moment. Sungmin would understand. Getting up out of his seat, he followed Eunhyuk out of the restaurant and into the parking lot.
There, Eunhyuk unlocked the doors to a silver sports car (Donghae estimated it to be worth a couple years’ worth of Donghae’s pay) and gestured for Donghae to get in the passenger seat. Donghae complied and watched stonily as Eunhyuk settled himself on the driver’s side. Eunhyuk gripped the steering wheel and stared resolutely ahead.
“So,” Donghae started once it was obvious Eunhyuk had no plans of doing so himself anytime soon. “What exactly is it that you want to talk about? I thought you made it pretty clear that night that it was to be a one time thing and nothing more.”
Eunhyuk finally turned to Donghae. “I apparently did not make it clear enough since you went back to that bar every night to look for me,” he replied, a familiar smirk forming on his lips.
“You were stalking me,” Donghae deadpanned.
“You could say that,” said Eunhyuk nonchalantly. “I prefer ‘noticing when a certain Donghae walks into the bar I just so happen to be in.’”
“I don’t understand you,” Donghae sighed, frustrated. “First, you pester me for a week for a fuck. Then after that happens, you disappear, but you’re really watching me from the shadows like a creeper.”
Eunhyuk remained silent.
“Well? Are you going to say anything?” demanded Donghae. “If not, I’m leaving.” Eunhyuk still did not speak. Exhaling in disappointment, Donghae reached for the door handle. A hand grabbed his wrist, stopping him.
Donghae glanced back at Eunhyuk, who seemed like he was struggling to say something. “Just spit it out,” said Donghae wearily.
“I’m not very good with words,” Eunhyuk admitted quietly before his lips crashed onto Donghae’s.
-
If Donghae thought his first time with Eunhyuk was fantastic, the second time blew it completely out of the waters. The pent up frustrations that had built up over the past two weeks came out all at once as he and Eunhyuk moved their hips frantically against each other.
As Donghae bent his head down to mark Eunhyuk’s inviting neck, Eunhyuk let out a gasp and Donghae pulled back to gaze into the redhead’s eyes, which were almost black with lust. Donghae briefly wondered if it was him marking Eunhyuk as his or if it was the other way around.
Eunhyuk’s hips bucked upwards and all coherent thoughts ceased.
-
Donghae woke up with the uncomfortable inkling that someone was watching him. Sure enough, next to him in an upright position was Eunhyuk, whose eyes bore into Donghae’s.
Rubbing the remnants of sleep from his eyes, Donghae sat up. “Are you going to asked me why I’m still here?” he asked, yawning as he stretched.
“No,” said Eunhyuk, his gaze unwavering.
Getting a hunch that Eunhyuk would start talking when he felt like it, Donghae leaned back against the headboard and waited patiently.
“I’ve never slept with the same person twice before,” Eunhyuk said eventually, in a manner that suggested he still couldn’t believe that he just did. He let out a small laugh. “I guess, as you would say, there’s a first time for everything.”
“What made you change your policy?” asked Donghae curiously.
Eunhyuk shrugged. “I’ve never met anyone who was as good in bed as myself before,” he acknowledged shamelessly.
Donghae snorted. “So you’re just after my body.”
“Hey, you’re after mine too, so we’re even.”
“That’s not the only reason why,” Donghae said before he could stop his honest nature from emerging as it tended to do at the most inconvenient moments. He mentally slapped himself and waved away Eunhyuk’s confusion.
“I wasn’t lying when I said you caught my eye,” Eunhyuk continued. “You seem different from the other people.” He looked at Donghae, and Donghae wondered if he was imagining the hint of nervousness he saw. “I’m really not sure what to do from here since I’ve never…”
“I’d love to do lunch tomorrow,” said Donghae.
Eunhyuk’s face registered surprise before it was replaced with his trademark smirk. “I guess you couldn’t resist my charm, huh?” he said without the usual cockiness.
“Are you sure it isn’t the other way around?” Donghae shot back.
Eunhyuk’s smirk regained its arrogance as they fell back into their customary banter. “Only an idiot would fall for your charm.”
“Then you’re an idiot,” said Donghae, the corners of his lips twitching up.
“Takes one to know one,” Eunhyuk replied smartly.
-
Donghae whistled a merry tune as he walked into the office carrying two hot mugs of coffee. When he reached his desk (really, it was his and Kyuhyun’s), he plopped down on his chair and set the mugs down. “Here you go,” he said, handing Kyuhyun the pink one.
Kyuhyun accepted the offering, but glared at Donghae. “Sungmin told me that you ditched him at the restaurant,” he said, pulling out all the snarkiness he attained from years of practice.
Donghae frowned, feeling slightly guilty. “Tell him I’m sorry, but an opportunity came up. He’s not mad, is he? I’ll make it up to him.”
Kyuhyun nodded. “He’s not too mad. Since you left, he got the rest of that wine to himself.”
“So are you making any progress?” asked Donghae.
Kyuhyun nodded excitedly and Donghae felt his stomach clench. “I only need to beat one more boss to move on to the next level,” Kyuhyun announced.
Donghae smacked the back of Kyuhyun’s head. “I meant work, not your games which you’re not supposed to be playing right now.”
Kyuhyun rubbed his head and stuck his tongue out at Donghae. “No progress. Every time I find something that might be a breakthrough, it’s a no-go.”
Donghae patted his shoulder sympathetically. “I don’t see why this is prioritized though,” he said thoughtfully. “There are many other much more important things to do.”
Kyuhyun peeked surreptitiously over his shoulders and leaned in to whisper in Donghae’s ear. “It’s because Leeteuk is a paranoid, old geezer.”
“I heard that, Cho Kyuhyun.” Kyuhyun gave a start as their boss suddenly appeared out of thin air. The blonde man crossed his arms and glared at Kyuhyun. “Just because you’re the magnae of this place doesn’t mean you’ll get away with saying anything you want. And it’s hyung to you.”
“I was kidding, hyung,” said Kyuhyun as innocently as he could. “Twenty-seven is in no way considered old.”
“Nice try,” snorted Leeteuk. “You should take lessons on that innocent act from Donghae.” He stalked off, no doubt to pop up on other unsuspecting employees.
“Gosh, I hate it when he does that,” griped Kyuhyun. “I swear, every time he jumps out of nowhere like that, I lose a year of my life.” He glared resentfully at Donghae. “How come you’re the only one he never does that to?”
Donghae tilted his head to the side, wide-eyed. “What are you talking about?”
Kyuhyun rolled his eyes and turned back to his laptop. “There’s no use talking to you when you have that face. How can a twenty-three year old man pull off something like that?”
Donghae grinned and patted Kyuhyun’s head. “It’s called acting. You can’t do it; that’s why you’re stuck in here all the time.”
Kyuhyun brushed Donghae’s hand away irritably.
-
“The reservation is under Lee Eunhyuk.”
The host made a check in his book and gestured for Donghae to follow him. “Right this way, sir. Mr. Lee is waiting.”
Donghae adjusted the lapels of his brand new suit (“If you’re going to be seen with me, you have to dress sharp,” Eunhyuk had insisted. “At all times.” He then dragged Donghae to his personal tailor for measurements. Donghae didn’t need the 10 new suits, but hey, free clothes). He gave the host a polite nod when they reached the table and sat down.
“You’re late,” Eunhyuk greeted him.
“Fashionably late,” Donghae corrected. “Pun totally intended as I couldn’t find the tie you said went with this suit.” His eyes darted around their table. “Where are the menus?”
“I took the liberty of ordering for us,” said Eunhyuk offhandedly.
Donghae frowned. “Has anyone ever told you that you are a controlling bitch?”
Eunhyuk gaped at Donghae in surprise. Then, he burst out into laughter. “No, I don’t think anyone ever has,” he chuckled. He leaned forward towards Donghae, eyes dancing. “And that’s what I like about you. Honest, yet unpredictable.”
Donghae resisted the urge to stomp his foot and stick out his tongue. “That still doesn’t solve the issue of you ordering for me,” he said instead.
“Relax.” Eunhyuk leaned back in his chair. “I know you like mushrooms, cheese, extra sauce, yada yada. Besides, I doubt you’d be able to read French.”
Donghae unfolded his napkin and started to make an origami boat, trying to ignore everything around them. Despite the fact that Eunhyuk had been taking him out to lunch at fancy restaurants for the past week, he still felt like a fish out of water (pun not intended this time).
“What’s up?” Eunhyuk asked, noticing the younger’s fidgeting.
Donghae sighed. “Nothing,” he mumbled.
“If you don’t tell me, I’ll kidnap you and handcuff you to my bed,” Eunhyuk warned.
Donghae shuddered, knowing the redhead meant every word. He set his napkin boat on the table and watched it fall apart. “It’s just…I don’t really like places like this,” confided Donghae, waving his arm vaguely to their surroundings.
Eunhyuk stared at Donghae as the younger continued squirming. Folding his cloth napkin neatly, he placed it on the table and stood up, grabbing a surprised Donghae’s wrist. “Come on.” Eunhyuk pulled out several bills from his pocket and threw it casually on the table.
“Where are we going?” asked Donghae as he allowed himself to be led towards the back of the restaurant. They arrived at a hallway with many doors.
Eunhyuk did not answer, but yanked open the door labeled ‘Men’s’ and dragged Donghae in.
“The restroom?” questioned Donghae, as he absorbed the new setting. “Why are we here?”
Eunhyuk opened the door to one of the spacious stalls and shoved Donghae in. Locking the stall door, Eunhyuk turned to face Donghae, a smirk gracing his features. “You said you don’t like places like this. Let’s see what you think of the restrooms,” he purred.
-
Donghae decided high class restaurants weren’t too bad, especially since they had such wonderful restrooms.
-
Kyuhyun did a double take as he took in Donghae’s disheveled appearance. “How on earth did you wrinkle a new suit that badly during the one hour lunch break?” the magnae asked as he paused his game.
Donghae collapsed into his chair and put his head on the desk. “I’m sleepy,” he complained.
“Why are you…” Kyuhyun’s eyes widened and he moved Donghae’s crooked shirt collar to reveal an angry red mark. “Is that a hickey?”
Donghae batted Kyuhyun’s hand away tiredly. “Having to return to work after sex is such a bummer,” he groaned.
“You just had sex?!” Kyuhyun nearly shrieked. Rubbing his ears, Donghae nodded.
Kyuhyun immediately whipped out his cell phone and pressed number one on his speed dial. “Sungmin? Yeah, it’s me. Yes, I’m at work. Yes, I know it’s the middle of the day. Yes, this is an emergency! Get this, Donghae is not a eunuch!”
“Hey,” Donghae protested, lifting his head.
“I know, shocker, huh? He actually got some. Just during lunch break, in fact.”
Shouldering Kyuhyun aside, Donghae snatched the phone away.
“You know, sex during lunch break doesn’t sound so bad,” Sungmin was saying in the seductive tone Kyuhyun loved. “We should try it some time.”
“Ew, no thanks,” gagged Donghae, wrinkling his nose.
“Oh, Donghae,” said Sungmin, unruffled by the sudden change of the person speaking. “Where’s Kyuhyun?”
“Eating paper,” replied Donghae, kicking Kyuhyun so he landed face first in their wastepaper basket.
“Tell him not to eat too much. I don’t want to have cooked dinner for nothing.” Sungmin did not sound too worried. “So, you finally caught the lucky guy’s interest, huh?”
“I guess you can say that,” Donghae said, feeling more at ease telling Sungmin than Kyuhyun.
“Hmm.” Donghae could imagine Sungmin stroking his chin thoughtfully. “Kyuhyun owes me money then. He was so convinced that you were a eunuch, he even bet against me! Good thing I accepted that bet. Like taking candy from a baby.”
“I’m hanging up now, hyung.” Donghae heard protests of ‘But I was on your side!’ as he pressed the call end button.
“We’ll throw you a party,” Kyuhyun told him, picking stray bits of trash out of his hair. “The banner will say ‘Congrats for finally getting laid.’”
“I’m going to ignore you and get coffee,” snapped Donghae, snatching up his mug.
“Congratulations,” said Leeteuk as Donghae passed by his office. “My baby is all grown up now.”
“Not you too, hyung,” Donghae groaned.
-
“I bet you wonder what I do with my spare time.”
Donghae cracked open one eye to scrutinize the redhead lying beside him. “You mean you don’t spend all of your waking hours either eating at fancy restaurants or having sex with me?”
“In your dreams,” scoffed Eunhyuk. He tugged Donghae closer so that their bodies touched.
“What do you do then, when you’re not hungry or horny?” asked Donghae, wrapping his arms around Eunhyuk’s waist.
“If I were a betting man, which I am, I’d say there’s a side of me you don’t know about,” Eunhyuk whispered in Donghae’s ear.
“You would lose that bet, babe,” said Donghae confidently.
Eunhyuk’s laugh was much different from his prior ones, Donghae was surprised to discover. Whereas the others were low chuckles, this one was high-pitched (but not as high-pitched as Leeteuk’s, the master of weird laughs his boss was) and sounded more authentic.
“If I recall, the last time you said that, you lost,” Eunhyuk so gleefully pointed out.
Donghae buried his head in Eunhyuk’s neck to hide his smile. “Alright then, wow me.”

A/N: My inspiration for this fic interestingly enough came from when my calculus teacher said "If I were a betting man..." Needless to say, the rest of the period was not spent on math.
