I saw a cute billboard for TXU Energy today. It was on the South Loop near Reliant Stadium.. it read....

"There is no TXU Stadium... We pass the savings on to you"

ok, maybe I'm a dork, but I thought it was clever.

Heh, that's good. I remember when it was announced that Reliant Energy would pay $300 million for the naming rights to the new stadium, Astrodome, and the rest of the complex. It was the same day that Reliant asked the PUC for permission to jack up the electric rates.

LOL, well I guess they had to make up that 300MM somewhere! Back in January I switched to TXU from Reliant and I must say my average cost per KWH is about 2 cents less per month. That 2 cents saves a substancial amount of $$$. I like to support local business but when I can save $20-30/month by using a company other than Reliant, its worth it.

I've always disliked Reliant Energy. They took my favorite downtown building (1111 Louisiana) which then had a decent enough name with Houston Industries Plaza and renamed it Reliant Energy Plaza (because there isn't enough crap in the city named for the energy monolith). It has since been renamed Centerpoint Energy Tower (even more bleh), after its spun off residential energy unit.

Also Reliant was in on the whole milking California's energy crisis, but I'm more ticked about the renaming of my favorite building.

I saw it yesterday on my way home from work. I wish I had thought of such a clever idea.
