AUs. Crossovers. Those glorious little things, born in the imagination, incubated on a laptop and hatched onto the internet for the rest of us to revel in. Here is a (continually growing) list of my favorites--pairing is mostly John/Sherlock

Have you read the Queen of Gondal stories by AJHall? (Whom I heartily recommend in a broad sense too, for every story ever written. Brilliant casefics!) Anyway, the Queen of Gondal is a crossover to some stories the Brontes wrote when they were young, with John as a physician who gets tasked to take a princess to the next country over to try to fend off a war. She's going to get married, to Sherlock, who is the Crown Prince (Mycroft is the King!) But there are some complications. Not the least of which that once very long ago, John and Sherlock knew each other very well indeed. Brilliant storywriting, many of the characters are drawn from yet other crossovers, and yet all of the OCs are wonderfully real.

I don't see any mention of random_nexus's stories here (I shall have to check out your longer recpage), but if you've missed that author, and you can tolerate WIPS, try this one where Sherlock and John meet earlier in the timeline. And there's another one, with muppets...
