Beware the Frankenstorm!
Hullo lovely people! Just a little note to say that all is (relatively) well. My apartment is currently stuffed to the gills with evacuees from other parts of the city, but so far everyone is getting along. No flooding in my area luckily, though there are lots of felled trees and rolling power outages. From the news, it sounds like the subway won't be running for a while, so we're pretty much stuck. At least we have plenty of boardgames and crossword puzzles.
It's funny, but I think New Yorkers are more friendly during times of disaster (natural or otherwise). Walking to the pharmacy today, there were lots of people milling about in the street just talking. It was kind of nice. :)
