I love this! Your alternate backstory is well-thought out and interesting, Moriarty's puzzle is creepy, your development of all the different character relationships is wonderful, and I have a real thing for fics that use short canon snippets in fresh and surprising ways. I saw on the kinkmeme that you're writing a sequel, which I eagerly await.
