When I was in middle school, Clueless was basically my bible. Eva and I lived and breathed Clueless. We studied that movie. We dressed like them, we acted like them, we pretended to be like them, and we called each other Tai and Dionne.
This is one of my favorite movies. I think Uptown Girls and About A Boy basically have a lock on the genre of "kids teaching adults things about life," but Uptown Girls is unique in the way that both characters are very dynamic, and change as a result of their friendship.
What's more is, I identify with her character and mentality so much, it's like, sick. She just lives in a sense of whimsy and doesn't care if she dances down the street and doesn't view herself as an adult. And I feel like the whole world views me as this delusional, idealistic sheltered impulsive idiot. I just think Molly is written and acted so perfectly. I cry every time I watch that fucking movie.
I've always found Brittany Murphy to be a delightfully wacky, funny, and endearing person. I don't think she ever lived up to her true potential. She'd flicker in and out with amazing work in things like Girl, Interrupted, and then somehow ended up on made-for-tv level somehow.
