Finn paced around the place, triple checking everything, making sure it was just like Kurt's notes told him. Rachel would be there soon, but he was never good at waiting and besides, this was... This was special. Things had been so up and down with them lately and he was determined to make things good for her again. Like they were before. He loved ( Read more... )

Honestly? Rachel's sure this is a break-up meeting. Finn's been so distant lately, following her screw up with sex (and it'd been selfish of her, to try and do that to him. Although, she was the one willing to give up her virginity for a role. But...she supposed that his first time with someone he loved was important too) and his loss with the OSU recruiter. But she loves Finn. She's loved him since Sophomore year...its just that he's seemed so sad, so angry and when he's not, she's trying to figure out exactly how she's going to get into NYADA with a suspension and not having performed at sectionals and-

"Hi." She smiles nervously, stepping into the house. "How are you?"

He's a little hyper, trying to suppress it and not seem like a kid or something. He's an adult now, they both are, and he can't go getting all bouncy whenever he feels like this. Still he can't keep the grin off his face as he looks at her. He shuts the door carefully behind her. "I- I'm good! Awesome even. Super awesome now that you're here." He bends to give her a quick kiss on the cheek. It feels weird to ask, he's her boyfriend after all, but it seems rude not to after she did, so he returns the question, "H-how are you?"

Wait...he's smiling. Well! That makes Rachel feel tons better. If he were breaking up with her, he wouldn't be smiling, right? Unless he was Santana, but he's not that cruel. She smiles back, chasing his kiss with a full on kiss of her own, pressing her lips to his. "I'm wonderful. We haven't spent any one on one time together in a very long time. I must admit, I've missed it a great deal."

He smiles for a moment against her lips before kissing her back properly. He rests his forehead against hers a moment before pulling back again and taking her hand. "I've missed it too. I'm sorry I've been so weird with the school stuff and just... Everything lately. I was hoping I could try to make that up to you, starting with tonight."

"It's not entirely your fault, Finn. My application to NYADA and related subsequent supplemental efforts have taken up much of the time I would have normally devoted to you. But now that the application has been sent off, until my acceptance packet arrives in March, I am free to be the attentive girlfriend that I should have been." She smiles, taking his hand and lacing their fingers together. "So. What did you have in mind?"

The feel of her fingers linking with his makes him grin wider. Her hands have always felt so delicate and tiny in his, like he's a huge monster, but not in an terrible awful way usually. Sometimes, but not really, kinda maybe? But like, monsters are strong and maybe he can be a good monster person and help protect her or something? He's overthinking this, and he's prooooooobably blanked out for a second there after her question. "I made you dinner! Or, well, Kurt made, I got the stuff for it and watched and nibbled on stuff. But it's a nice one, and even though it's got tofu it's really good!"

Monster isn't quite right. Rachel's always thought of Finn more like a...big dog. Protective and sweet and big and warm but with a streak of agressiveness that can be brought out when need be. "It's the thought that counts, Finn. And that's a very sweet thought." Pulling off her coat, she sits it on the rack next to the door. "Lead the way, Mr. Hudson!"

He laughs, thoughts of monsters and such vanishing in the light of her smile. In this moment he's sure he'd do anything for that smile. With a slight bow he offers her his arm saying, "As you wish Ms. Berry! Please, let me escort you this way."

He grins and she can't do anything but grin back. Finn's always had a brilliantly sweet smile and even from afar, she'd have done anything to have that smile directed at her. It's been a long time since she's seen it, though, a long time since she's felt that fire in her chest. But right now she's reminded of all of the reasons she loves Finn.

She loops her arm through his, giggling as he leads her through the house. "It smells delicious."

He giggles a little with her they walk. Right now all their troubles are somewhere else, and it's just them. Exactly like they were before. The way he'd hoped it'd be. The table has been set already, meal carefully laid out, fancy bubbly juice set up, and even little gold stars on the napkins. Everything to celebrate her and everything he loves about her.

He remembers to pull out her chair for her even, and is a little proud of himself for that one. "So... What do you think?"

There's sparkling grape juice (her favorite flavor) and the stars on the napkins and- "It's perfect, Finn." She grins, turning to kiss his cheek, then cup his jaw to kiss his lips. "The napkins are darling and the food looks exquisite and-...you're so wonderful." She says softly, before moving to take a seat.

He touches her waist gently as she kisses him, smiling happily as she sits. "I wanted everything to be as perfect as you are. So, like... I'm really glad you like it."

He very nearly spills the juice while pouring it, but he catches it the last possible second to his great relief. He's still blushing slightly when he takes his own seat. Should he ask her now? Wait until dessert? Hide it in the dessert like in those movies and stuff? Every time he decides he changes his mind.

As perfect as you are...

She blushes, giggling a little when he fumbles the juice. It's cute, his clumsiness and she wonders if maybe their kids will have at least some balance. With her grace and Finn's total lack of it, they should land somewhere in the middle.

When he sits her glass down, she takes a bite of dinner, smiling. "I swear, if Kurt doesn't go into fashion or theatre, he should go into the culinary arts."

"I know right? Or maybe he can like, take classes in fashion and cooking stuff as like minors or something? He likes a lot of stuff, and he's good at it too, kinda like you, only like a dude." He's positive that came out weird but Rachel hopefully knows what he means. She's usually very good at it. His hand slips in his pocket to feel the weight of the ringbox in his palm a steading comfort. He could do this, and do it right.

She totally gets your compliment, Finn, and it makes her beam and blush at the same time. "Thank you. I admit, Kurt and I's ambition and varied interests is part of what sparked our friendship in the first place. It only makes sense that two of the most driven people at William McKinley High would be friends. And our goals are similar."

He's so glad that she gets it, even when his words stumble over themselves as bad as his feet. It's one of the things he loves about her. "You guys are really alike like that aren't you?" Which... He's always known that but sometimes it just kinda hits him over the head how really alike they can be, such bright talented people, so obviously meant for something more while he's just... Just Finn. But no, no he's not thinking about that tonight. "Guess I'm just lucky to have the two brightest stars in town so close all the time."
