Seussical

Yesterday was a lot of fun. After school I went to Cassidi's house and chilled with her for a while. She got a flat tire and that sucked, but at least she got to drive the Hyundai. We went for coffee at Donut Connection and then picked up Amanda and Kenny. The plan was to go get them and meet Lauren and Maura at Scranton High to see their Seussical. I honestly enjoyed the show and I would like to go again before it's over. They ripped a lot of stuff off of us, but that's probably Billy's fault, so I guess it's OK. The Mayor (i don't know who played him) and Horton (Billy Mattison) were outstanding. I'll give them credit and say that they were better than Steve and Mike. Mayzie was an awesome singer and everyone was telling me how amazing she is, but I honestly thought Colleen was 10 times better than her. She could sing, but so can Colleen, but couldn't act and Colleen's an amazing actor. She WAS Mayzie. No questions asked. The Cat in the Hat was really good, I thought. He was a little tone deaf, but was an awesome actor. It's hard to compare him to Lauren though because first of all he was a guy and they both played the parts completely differently. The guy at Scranton played a very proper Cat, hands folded a lot, very emotional at times and it really fit the charater well. Lauren was more of a crazy, outspoken Cat. I met him after the show, and he was honestly one of the nicest people I've ever met. He was so happy that some people from the O'Hara show came, especially Lauren, and introduced Maura to one of the Wickersham Brothers lol. The Wickershams were also hard to compare to our show. They were a little tone deaf and our dancing was way better, but they had this one guy who was a gymnast doing all these flips and shit and that was really cool. During "Chasing the Whos," he did flips completely across the stage. A girl named Mandy (I forget her last name) played Gertrude and all around I thought she was very good. Her "All For You" was a little too sweet, though. That song's supposed to say "Look at all this stuff I did for you, why the hell aren't you noticing me?" but when she did it it kind of said "I did all this stuff, sympathize with me." She had a great voice too. She was a total doll too when I talked to her after the show. She said she went to the O'Hara show and that I inspired her to want to be Gertrude. LMAO! She was so nice.

The Bird Girls and The Sour Kangaroo made my ears bleed. They were so freaking bad I cringed a couple times while they were singing. The Sour Kangaroo was an OK actor, but cracked more times than I can count and her growl had NOTHING on Jolie's. That was one of the places I cringed lol. Billy said that the Bird Girls couldn't hear themselves, but I didn't get that. They didn't even do any harmonies. It sounded like they practiced for like a day. He also said that The Sour Kangaroo had larengitis, but I didn't believe that because when I talked to her after the show, her voice sounded totally fine. And BILLY said it, so we all know that it's probably a lie.

So all in all, here's how I'd compare everyone's performances.

The Cat in the Hat: Lauren Durdach vs. Scranton: Can't compare.
Horton: Steve Corma vs. Scranton: Billy
Mayzie: Colleen Murphy vs. Scranton: Colleen
Gertrude: Me vs. Scranton: Don't ask me, I don't know if I was good or bad.
Mayor: Mike May vs. Scranton: Scranton by a landslide
Mayor's wife: Kaitlin Fuhr vs, Scranton: Scranton
Sour Kangaroo: Jolie Youshock vs. Scranton: Jolie by MORE than a landslide
Bird Girls: O'Hara vs. Scranton: O'Hara
Wickershams: O'Hara vs. Scranton: Can't compare
General Ghengis Kahn Schmitz: Nick Katchur vs. Scranton: Scranton. (Don't tell Nick lol)
JoJo: Sal Corma vs. Scranton: Sal by a landslide. (The kid they had playing JoJo was like 16, lol. It just didn't work. They had to do all of JoJo's songs an octave lower.)
Chorus: O'Hara vs. Scranton: Scranton, although their acoustics were really bad. but when you heard their chorus, they were great.

All in all, both shows had a lot of faults, but I'd say that I couldn't pick which one was better.

After the show, I went over to Applebee's with Billy. When we got there, we met Jack, Charlie, Annarose, Steve and Nick. We had to sit on a bench and wait for a table to be cleared. It took extra long because we needed a table for like 12 lol. They ended up just giving us two tables, but we didn't sit down until Cassidi, Kenny, Lauren, Geno and Maura got there. I didn't get any food because I only had $4. It was OK though, I wasn't really hungry anyway. After a while, Dana and Kyle came to join us. We ended up staying there for like 3 hours, then headed over to Cosmo's at a little after 11 o'clock. The wait for a pool table was ridiculous, and I had to go before we even got one. Billy drove Dana and me home and Kyle came for the ride. We had a fun chat on the way. Dana and I were planning on watching a movie when we got back, but instead she went ot sleep and I read Constantine until like 2.
