The Student One-Acts went well...a fun time was had by all. As I've stated elsewhere, "tights get great updrafts."
Had the opportunity to see Grindhouse a second time (rushed out to Lancaster to meet with Brian and Emily), though I missed the first 15 minutes or so of Planet Terror.
Saw Vacancy last week, which is a surprisingly effective, short-and-to-the-point horror thriller; more than once I was genuinely freaked out.
I've spent the past week working on end-of-semester papers. I turned in my 23-page postmodern analysis of Dawn of the Dead (2004) yesterday, and may copy it onto this thing if I have time (or get bored). It's probably terrible and scatterbrained, but at least it's done.
The night before, I "celebrated" its completion by smoking out at a squalid apartment in the neighborhood surrounding the college. Rarely I do such a thing, but considering my status as a graduating senior entering the--shudder--Real World, I will essentially lose access to any individuals who are "holding," so WTF not? I'm a good boy.
The Kurt Vonnegut public reading (organized by Yours Truly) went very well; it was fun to read the "obscene" passages of Breakfast of Champions while a mass exodus of incoming freshmen passed by with their parents, wondering WTF was going on. I'm keeping the poster my co-worker made to advertise it.
Something extra:
http://dragon.ycp.edu/~afreelan/Hamlet/ People treat graduation with the fragile delicacy of a person who has just found out they have cancer.
Or gotten engaged. Whatever.
It shouldn't be a revelation to anyone who knows me that I will be far more nostalgic for faculty/staff than any members of the student body. It occurred to me just today that most of my "friends" are underclassmen, and I'll be graduating alongside a bunch of people who I know in face or name, and whose departure will not in the least affect me.
Good riddance!
So, yeah: May 12, bright and early.
My post-graduation plans? Returning to an aimless, directionless life of no discernible purpose. Wahoo!
