Walker didn't generally like Halloween parties, "too much like the bozos I meet every day," he told everyone. However, he made an exception when Special Agent Liz Warner invited him to escort her to the Eppes Infamous Halloween bash.

He even let her talk him into wearing a costume. ("Your uniform doesn't count, Gary," she said. "And, no, a suit doesn't count, either. Even if wearing civvies is foreign to your nature."

They finally decided on aviator outfits. Gary coming as Charles Lindbergh and Liz coming as Amelia Earhart. "I can't wait to see what everybody else came as," Liz said. "Amita tells me these guys can get pretty creative."

The Eppes had set up a maze that started in the driveway and ended, Gary guessed, in the infamous garage of Professor Charles Eppes.

The first person they encountered was Larry, the greeter. At least Gary the "hunchback" at the entry with the name tag "Igor" sounded like Larry. It was hard to tell when the person in question had no head.

"Here are your maps of the maze," "Igor" said gleefully. "Beware of the dead ends and ... dead falls!" Then he finished with a spine chilling laugh.

Walker rolled his eyes. "Thanks, Igor," he said. "I'm sure I can handle myself."

"Just don't shoot anyone," Larry added in his normal voice.

"Don't worry," Gary assured him. "I've never shot anybody by accident."

"Should I be relieved?" Larry wondered aloud to himself.

He and Liz went through the maze, ducking the spiders that came swinging and the bats that came swooping.

"The Eppes went all out on this," Gary muttered in admiration.

"Hey, they have all sorts of geniuses and engineers on their team," Liz said. "It's bound to be some crazy stuff in here."

An image of a woman appeared, smiled at them, and then faded into the maze wall.

"Nice hologram," Liz said. "Look out!"

This was said as Frankenstein's monster came lurching out of the shadows."

"Oops, sorry!" muttered Frankenstein.

Gary realized that this was a guest and not part of the decor. "Who are you?" he asked.

"Ray Galeski, mechanical engineering," Frankenstein replied. "I just wanted to check the lights... have you seen the witch's cauldron yet?"

Liz and Gary shook their heads.

"That stuff is drinkable, just so you know," Frankenstein said. "There are cups hanging from the inside rim. Don't be shy!" he lurched off towards the entrance.

They made their way through to the center and found the witch's cauldron. They also found David and Colby, who were dressed as "Spy Vs. Spy" from Mad Magazine. Colby was the one all in black and David was the one all in white.

They were looking into the cauldron with dubious expressions on their faces.

"Ray Ray said it was drinkable," Liz told them.

"Yeah," Colby said. "But who knows if what *geeks* think is drinkable is the same thing as what *I* think is drinkable?"

"Good point," Walker said. "I think I'll pass."

Liz also elected to wait until they could see what they were eating. They parted ways from the "spies" and almost jumped out of their bomber jackets when a woman materialized from nowhere.

She smiled and faded away, leaving them gasping with laughter.

"I *have* to find out how they did that one!" Liz chortled.

"They'll never give up their secrets, my pretty!" cackled a familiar voice. A tall woman with green skin emerged from a path that Gary had been about to suggest they try.

"Nikki?" Liz said uncertainly.

"Yep, I look good as the Wicked Witch, don't I?" Nikki said smugly.

"I always suspected it of you," Gary told her.

"Funny, Walker," she swung her broomstick in his direction.

Gary ducked automatically. He straightened out almost immediately, but Nikki had moved on. "Don't bother with that path," she said. "It's a dead end."

Gary and Liz looked at each other.

"Do we believe her?" he asked.

"No," Liz replied.

It was a good thing that they didn't, because it was the path that lead to the garage... and the food.

Amita was tending bar dressed as her "Primacy" character. Charlie, dressed in a policeman's uniform, kept spilling food and dropping things as he stared at her. Gary didn't blame him. He didn't dare look at Amita for long himself, as his date was known to carry a gun.

Don and Robin, both dressed in surgical scrubs, came over.

"Hey, Gary, Liz, having a good time?" Don asked. He handed them both beers.

"Yes," Liz said. "This is great! Where's the food?" She looked around and took a pull at her beer.

Don laughed and escorted them to the buffet.

They ate and chatted and had a good time guessing who was dressed as whom.

"Have you seen my dad?" Don asked after a while. "He's got a great costume!"

"I haven't," Gary admitted.

"He's probably putting more dry ice in the witch's cauldron," Don said. "I'll go get him."

Gary held up his hand. "Allow me, I want to make sure we see all the decorations, anyway."

They headed into the maze again, admiring the bats and goblins and avoiding the "prowling werewolves".

"I really like the ghost woman hologram," Liz said.

Don frowned. "A hologram?" he said. "I don't remember one. Where was it?"

Liz looked around. "Um, at the cauldron, I think," she said uncertainly.

They found their way to the witch's cauldron where they found Alan Eppes, dressed up as George Washington. They paused, but he didn't notice them because he was dancing with a ghostly partner.

"He's dancing with ... a hologram?" Liz squeaked.

Don swallowed and took a half step backwards. Then he grabbed the other two by the arms and escorted them away. "I think we should give them some privacy," he said in a strange voice.

Gary studied Don's profile, but he couldn't see the younger man's features.

"That wasn't a hologram, was it?" he said.

Liz made another squeaking noise.

"No, it wasn't," was Don's only answer.
