sorry...got distracted: the new scene grew and grew, but I had to prune it.

And the concept of maijie. :)

>A very interesting look into the relationship between Nikki and Alice. They worked together very well in that episode,
quite.
> but this gives a new dimension to it.
which was the intent.
though the original plot bunny, was that Alice and Nikki used to be lovers. then the bunny mutated & they weren't lovers, they were sisters.
> I liked that.
I am pleased.
>And the concept of maijie
I like it too.
ps, I still love that icon.

I like this mutation of the plot bunny.
The world would be better if everyone used maijie.
It's one of my favorite icons, too, actually. :)

alongside the "don't care for race" lesson, Nikki and Alice would have received the lesson of "don't vendetta" - ie, if Alan Eppes had been the guy who'd spat on their dad, neither Alice nor Nikki would be allowed to retaliate or have revenge against Alan, Don, or Charlie.
(I wasn't sure how to work this in - aside from it being an example of "Negative evidence" on the show, it didn't really fit with the rest of the story...so it didn't even make it into the second draft)
but I thought it was worth sharing.

I really did enjoy these snapshots of Nikki and Alice as sisters. I think my favorite is still Little!Nikki Betancourt from the first snapshot. It's hard to imagine her all those years ago.
Nice job hon. :)

yeah, I wonder when Nikki first got the idea that she would run for President. and was it more of a jest at the time?
I'm glad to hear that. and yes, little!Nikki is adorable. (though probably a terror to the babysitters she doesn't like)
gracias, my friend.
ps: wonder if the Colby in your icon's thinking "wait, why'm I being used as a demo?, I wasn't even in this fic" ;)

I like this look into Nikki's past, and how both girls were affected by each other and their new family life even though both of them weren't willing to change themselves completely for the other.

ps: just noticed, the newsletter won't be able to include this without a genre (gen/het/slash) and rating (PG etc). Missing scene only won't cut it. Can you update that and leave a note on the current newsletter if you want us to include it?

>I do like how Nikki and Alice have influenced each others' lives without leaving obvious signs of that influence - Nikki and Alice still end up the same people they are in the episode.
that's my fault...it was an exercise for me to see if I could play with subtext and pasts, without changing the episode.
though, one might wonder if Alice is the reason Nikki wants to run for office. :)
not sure where the newsletter is, so - Rating/Category: PG-13 / Gen / Character Study, Missing Scene, Case-related, not exactly an AU.
again, thank you.
