Hi Laura, and thank you again! I meant to say in my original feedback that my prompt was something of a stream of consciousness of different aspects of Ultimatum reactions that I'd like to see; I didn't expect that they would *all* be filled, so you did absolutely amazingly to cover as much as you did!

...Colby has the inner steel, but a calmer exterior, so he won't be pushed around, but he won't be too demanding either.

I agree with your take on Nikki/Ian but the latter part of your statement particularly interested me because for me, it's a large part of why a relationship between Ian and Colby (and also Ian and Don) could actually work.

I just wasn't brave enough to tackle the characters until a moment of madness had me sign up for this and then I just had to get on with it. I had wondered about the impact on an established relationship, but I do love writing first time fic, and it added a level of uncertainty that an established couple might not have.

I'm very glad you did sign up! I think I followed the same route as you; signing up for this resulted in my first piece of Numb3rs fic, and it's all been downhill from there on. *g* I can see that the events of the episode would have a different sort of tension if it were to take place within an established relationship, and the fallout would be spectacular (and fun!), but I'm not sure quite how well it would work. That's not to say I wouldn't love to read somebody's take on it who *makes* it work, of course. :)

I have plans for another fic with this pairing, but I have no idea when it will get written, as I also have plans for several Stargate:Atlantis fics and an SGA crossover with Supernatural and no idea which one will get done first

Whilst the last thing I want to do is dissuade you from SGA or SPN, I would love to see more of this pairing from you...
