Our final summer hiatus month has begun which means a) one more month of our Summer Crossover Spectacular b) you can begin the countdown until kids go back to school and stop being underfoot c) last chance to work on your tan and d) you have a few weeks of great weather left to get outdoors before bad weather traps you behind your keyboard for the winter! So while you can, go out and loosen up those limbs, get the kinks out and kiss off the carpal tunnel. ;-)
The Monthly Theme for August is Movement.
We like a challenge so we figured we'd pick some rare pairings for this month to give authors a chance to step outside of their comfort zones a little. Our Challenge Pairings for August are Amita/Ian or Amita/Liz.
So go back in time and give us Eppes girlfriends getting extracurricular together (perhaps with the boys watching!), AU Amita as a fellow ex and let the ladies get their revenge against their former boyfriends or toss a third in the mix (no rule against adding anyone to a challenge pairing) and awe us with an eyeful of pretty. Ian's a take what he wants kind of man, so if his eye turns towards Amita, he'd be hard to turn away. Whether you pick slow building relationship fic or steamy PWP, show us a whole new kind of sniper voodoo. It's hard to imagine Ian walking away from something he wants, so if Charlie wants his Amita all to himself, he's going to have to stand up to a killer.
Prompt #223 is Stand.
Take a stand! Any use of the word stand would be outstanding! Charlie standing in the rain in the pilot, Don on the witness stand with Robin questioning him, Margaret's composition on a music stand, hippie Alan standing up for what he believes in... And can I just mention wall!smut? /big grin/ You can see where I stand! (It's understandable, right?) So whether it's Colby standing at attention in the desert sun in Afghanistan or David standing on an NYC street corner dissing drug dealers, you've got a standing invitation to rise up and write some upright fic!
N100 Rewind!
Time to get a little political. This month's rewind might inspire you to pull from the news, but we think it will be good for the Megan and Terry fans out there as well. Megan's DOJ period, her new work back east and Terry's return to give her marriage a second try are all good options for this month's prompts.

The Numb3rs100 Numbers
We wound up July with a kicked back 12 drabbles. (We almost wanted to put the dozen of them in a hammock!)
A total of 2 Sun drabbles rose over the comm last week. Our thanks and a sunny stay in the Bahamas to magisterequitum [Heroes] for her sensational story. We also counted up 6 past prompt drabbles. Our gratitude and a very nice vacation in the Virgin Islands to swingandswirl (4) and magisterequitum [2 Heroes] for their tantalizing tales. We also enjoyed one Rewind Series, for an additional 4 fic. Merci and a magnificent trip to the Greek Isles to magisterequitum [Heroes] (Jan08, 4) for her gracious gift of great fic.

Last month of the Summer Crossover Spectacular! Enjoy it while you can! Here's two more fandoms to try crossover or fusion fic with: Law and Order and Firefly!
Law and Order (Any L&O: TOS, SVU, CI, UK...)
So many LEOs (and lawyers!), so little time! Where to begin? Don/Connie? Robin/Connie? (Or Don/Robin/Connie?) Lupo/Cutter running into David (home for a visit) and Alvin Brickle? LOL Cyrus used to work overseas in intelligence; perhaps he crossed paths with Colby working CID? Make a federal case of things and bring in Jack McCoy to argue jurisdiction. Get Goren to go head to head with Charlie - two brilliant minds, both a bit askew. Have Dr. Huang consult on Megan's new project back east. Fuse the fandoms and put Elliot, Olivia, Munch, or even Tutuola on Don's team. Better yet, make Briscoe old buddies with Alan from their youth in the city. Bernard's straight outta Compton - maybe he knew Nikki there.
Firefly
A space western... Yeah, we scratched out heads too when Firefly came out, but Joss Whedon can do no wrong and this tale of goodhearted thieves and under the radar cargo haulers in space stole our hearts and gave David Krumholtz a great role as Mr. Universe in the movie Serenity. So take us on Mal's ship and drop cosmologist Larry in the pilot's seat, give Don Jayne's gun Vera to wield, make Megan the Zoe-ish second in command and fuse the fandoms with a dash of Mandarin as garnish. Shiny! Drop Kaylee into Charlie's classes and give her a crush on her professor, let Book officiate Don's wedding, slash Simon and Colby (yum!), offer River a chance to out IQ Amita or give Zoe a badge and let her be Don's second in command at the Bureau. Anyway you can meld characters from hundreds of years in the future, feel free!
