Ahh, summer... The perfect time for a day at the beach where there's something for everyone: little-kid games with pail and shovel, teen parties, beach reads, family picnics, even scientific explorations for a math prodigy as pasty white as the proverbial ivory tower. ;-)
Prompt #220 is Sand.
Spend a lazy day on the sand with our favorite Fedcakes, culminating in a bonfire complete with s'mores. Pit Nikki and Colby against David and Liz for a fierce game of beach volleyball. Send Charlie on a Middle East military consultation, or reunite Larry and Megan on a gorgeous black sand beach distant from either of their daily lives. Follow Ian or Billy (or both!) on a manhunt through majestic dunes, requiring extreme diligence and skill to track the target across an ever-shifting landscape. Put challenge couple Billy and Colby in a beachside bungalow, or let challenge pairing Billy and Liz succumb to the classic movie fantasy and make love on a cushion of cool, wave-kissed sand.

We warmed up to a bakers dozen of 13 drabbles during last week's lazy days of summer.
We saw 2 Sea drabbles grace our shores. Our thanks and a spin behind the wheel of Charlie's EGV to magisterequitum for her superb summer story. We also found ourselves with 11 past prompt drabbles. Our gratitude and a surfing lesson from Colby to loozy (6!), quirky_circe (4!) and magisterequitum [Northern Exposure] for their fabulous fic fare.
Summer Crossover Spectacular Spotlight!
With the new week comes a focus on new fandoms to write crossover or fusion fic for: Star Trek and Castle!
Star Trek (All incarnations: The Original Series/movies, The Next Generation/movies, Deep Space 9, Voyager, Enterprise, Reboot)
Scientists and Sci Fi are a natural match. Larry's been closed-mouthed about his experiences in space; maybe he's hiding a close encounter with Spock Prime. Give Scotty some of Charlie and Larry's multiple-dimension math as a basis for one of his equations. Send Picard and Riker back to present-day L.A in search of someone who can calculate the mysteries of wormholes. Fuse Don into Starfleet Academy, or give Charlie a job designing starships instead of yachts. Bring Larry to DS9 in search of Bajoran wisdom. Send Billy in his very own fast but tough rescue ship on a hunt for the Voyager crew.
Castle
Rick Castle is a mystery novelist who develops a taste for real-life crime fighting in NYC. Give Don a murder to solve on the Hollywood set of a movie based on a Rick Castle novel. You know Castle would *have* to "help." Send Detective Beckett to a seminar on Charlie's hot zone equations, or give Colby a taste for Nikki Heat stories and a fascination with the flesh and blood detective that inspired her. Want fusion? Go for an academic mood and make Castle himself a literature professor at CalSci. Fuse Megan into Kate's place and make her the real muse for Nikki Heat, or swap Liz and Nikki for Ryan and Esposito and see if Castle can hold his own against the gorgeous, tough ladies we know and love. Fuse Kate Beckett into the F.B.I. and onto Don's team and watch her bantery sparks fly!
