Screen Overload

I'm a terrible person ...
I find it amusing to see how many people get up and leave the cinema to tell the staff they have the wrong film screening when there is a short film attached to the front of a festival movie.
Read the programme people! Sheesh ...

Eight days of film festival down - nine to go! :D
It's interesting to find unexpected connections between some of the films in film festivals.
For instance, today I watched the film The Secret Life of Words (starring Sarah Polley and Tim Robbins) - Julie Christie was also in it. Another festival film that played just a couple of days ago was Away From Her, which I didn't get to see properly in the cinema, but watched as much as I could from the projection room. It was written and directed by Sarah Polley and starred Julie Christie.
Furthermore, one of the songs on the soundtrack of The Secret Life of Words was 'Hope There's Someone' by Antony and the Johnsons. Antony featured in a festival film I saw last week Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man.
Intrigued by what I've heard of him on these two films, today I bought his CD 'I Am A Bird Now' and have the Leonard Cohen soundtrack on order (lots of interesting performances on that one).*
Freaky coincidences, huh?
Or not, depending on your level of film-obsession.

Finally saw Day Watch tonight. Was certainly a 'head trip' as a friend who was also there called it. I found it a little disconcerting because it seemed so different from the book. The movies are proving to be very different creatures from the books, even though I only read the books after having seen the first movie. (Er, yeah ... I'm not really expressing my self well here ...) I think Day Watch will grow on me; I just need to get used to the differences. I recall I came out of Night Watch loving the style, but a bit 'huh? - what was that?!', but now I love it.
Anton (see userpic) is still a very cool character though!

*Also picked up Eagle vs Shark soundtrack, and not a penny wasted! - it's awesome. "Yip." :)
