Quenya Translation [X-posted to LEAF]

Jun 22, 2007 16:23

Would you think I'm crazy if I said I found doing this translation incredibly relaxing and soothing ... ?!  It's about time I posted some more Quenya - been too long.

These are the words of a song called 'Hymn' from NZ singer Brooke Fraser's album 'Albertine' ~

If to distant lands I scatter
If I sail to farthest seas
Would you find and firm and gather 'til I only dwell in Thee?
If I flee from greenest pastures, would you leave to look for me?
Forfeit glory to come after
'Til I only dwell in Thee

If my heart has one ambition
If my soul one goal to seek
This my solitary vision 'til I only dwell in Thee
That I only dwell in Thee
'Til I only dwell in TheeMai nórennar vaháyë ni ranya
Mai ni cirë ëarinnar anhairar
Ma tyë hirë ar tulca ar hosta tenna marinyë er mi tyë?
Mai ni wilë narassellon allaiquar, ma tyë auta sacien nyë?
Avarta alcar tulien apa
Tenna marinyë er mi tyë

Mai órenya harya námië
Mai fëanya er selma roita
Sina lorinya eressë tenna marinyë er mi tyë
Ne marinyë er mi tyë
Tenna marinyë er mi tyë
