MumblecoreNo, it's not a new musical genre (see: babysealcore), it's a film genre. I don't know how I feel about it, but it brings up a bunch of emotions. The movies are, for the most part, filmed like an episode of The Office (a point which I don't enjoy a whole). I agree - I didn't like Napolean Dynomite, either. It was a purely character-driven movie -done brilliantly, I might add. I just didn't like the character. I think it has something to do with hearing all of the jokes 50 times before actually seeing the movie. Maybe if I had seen it opening weekend, I would've enjoyed it. Still, I can recognize that it did something very well.

I was also adverse the (US) Office when it began. It's first episodes were a giant turnoff to me, being beat-for-beat, line-for-line remakes of the brilliant UK version. I felt I was watching a career cover band perform my favorite hits. But then something happened - the show took on a life of its own. Now two seasons beyond the UK version, it has great characters and some really fun overarching storylines. I can't miss it now.

Anywhoo, Mumblecore is a new thing to me and I'll have to check out some of the things you note to actually comment on anything you said besides just throwing in my two cents.

PS - your screenplays can't be as bad as mine was.
