Last night I had a dream that Lela and I were walking through a wooded area during twilight, when we came upon a group of hippie kids sitting in a circle and smoking pot. They were friendly, so we stopped to chat for a bit and one of them eventually offered us a pipe. To my great surprise, Lela accepted it and took a big drag out of it. She passed the pipe to me, and I did the same.
As we were walking away, Lela realized what she had done and became distressed about it. A nearby old woman saw Lela's distress and--through some intuition--saw Lela's character as well.
She said, "It is not that the Path is so crooked. It is you who are so straight."
It felt extremely profound, and I immediately saw a vision of a path that had slight bends here and there. In the path there was a long narrow object that was moving along and bumping against the curves of the path. It was clear that the old woman was trying to comfort Lela by explaining that life's little twists could sometimes seem like great loops, because Lela was so perfect herself, and those same twists and turns were only easily handled by people with bends and kinks of their own.
The analogy seems a little flawed. Nevertheless, I'm posting my dream here because I rarely hear anything that feels profound in my dreams, and this seemed to have a ring of truth to it.
