Week #2: The week of crazy team projects

Dec 10, 2013 13:07

My previous week I started with a very simple thing -- I went to a barbershop to do a haircut. I have chosen "Peoples" on Polk Street basically because it was my top of mind brand in San Francisco.

Inside it was a really nice place. Barber Lena was trying really hard and successfully -- this time I didn't hate myself after looking into the mirror.

It was a Sunday but not for me. Our team had a team meeting in the school to finish our project on Digital Marketing class. When I came to the school I noticed that my bike was the only one in the entire garage. Usually it is not easy to find a place to park your bike here.

That team meeting was extremely long and not really productive. We had spent the entire day in the meeting room, wiped our whiteboard 4 times, but barely progressed towards the completion.

We had to present our big Digital Marketing project on Wednesday afternoon. But we still had a lot of work to do. So on next day we managed to meet and to work together as much as possible.

This is Nicole from Canada.

Yujia from China.

Faye from Thailand.

Felipe from Brazil.

Our team meeting was extremely productive and creative (Russian word "boozer").

On the next day I was proud to meet the President of Hult International Business School Steve Hodges from the UK. He came with a visit to San Francisco campus. Using this opportunity I had organized a group of active MIM students from all cohorts in order to tell Steve about our academical successes and concerns, communicate feedback and answer questions.

Steve had made an impression of a very bold and passionate businessman.

Since Tuesday the weather in San Francisco has become clear and sunny but unfortunately very chilly -- temperature goes down to +7°C.

The entire city is nicely decorated with lights and Christmas ornaments.

We've spent the entire Tuesday in the school. Till 11PM we were busy finishing our presentation. From 11PM till 2:15AM we were rehearsing our tomorrow's presentation in the empty Danube classroom.

We were going to present our new business proposition -- the service for travelers that we named "Captoura".

Everybody was very excited about the presentation. On Wednesday afternoon we successfully presented our business model and marketing plan.

After that presentation we were barely alive -- we had spent several days staying till late night in the school, each of us slept every night less then 6 hours... We deserved to have one night of a chill out.

Three of us (Felipe, Ira and myself) have bought an acoustic guitar to learn playing it from Felipe. On Wednesday night Felipe had performed a very well played improvisation.

We were spending our time in the Gateway. The view that we had there was really impressive.

Thursday was really hard in terms of waking up. My friend Sherif invited me to go together to Yahoo's headquarters in Silicon Valley.

Thanks god I was not the only sleepy person in the car.

Yahoo's office impressed us a lot.

The scale.

The variety of free food.

Huge cafeterias.

There was a shop with a big variety of merchandise.

Jesus Christ, they even have their own farmers market right inside their office!

The freeway on our way back was very busy with traffic, so it took us more than two hours to get back to San Francisco.

And as soon as I got back I joined our team on team meeting that kept us in the school till midnight. It was productive but exhausting.

On Friday we were on a concert of Arctic Monkeys, Vampire Weekend, Queens of the Stone Age and Kings of Leon. It was impressive.

A funny observation: liquor bars at the venue were named "power snacks".

And because of these power snacks some of our friends sometimes were feeling overwhelmed with amounts of joy and happiness.

I was really happy to hear the song by Vampire about San Francisco being in San Francisco.

On the next day we did our first approach to film our wine advertising on Twin Peaks.

And unfortunately we failed. Big time. But at least boys had some fun.

Sorry for failing again about staying within the limit of 10 pictures, hope you had some fun reading this.
