[005] RL with Usagi

Dec 09, 2008 16:48

Chizu carefully eased her way out of the alley she'd ended up in. Behind her, her portal slowly began to close. It was... snowing? She looked upwards, peeking out from beneath the brim of her hat. The great city of steel and stone was being covered by a dusting of snow and for the moment, it actually looked picturesque. Regardless, she had made it ( Read more... )

It had taken a bit of persuading to get Sterling off his back. The robot not taking to letting the ronin run off on his own. Not that Usagi was going to listen to the metal man.

He hoped Chizu had made it into New New York, the alien filled streets were a bit more friendly to those who looked non-human but there was still dangers. The ronin waited at the base of the building that held the penthouse. The flying cars having gotten used to the snow; even if it was slowing down a little.

Turn a corner here, duck down an alley there... She wasn't lost. Yet. But, this new territory was confusing, and so it was with a sense of relief that she spotted a familiar figure on the sidewalk ahead of her.

She padded forward through the snow, raising an arm in greeting, "Ho! Usagi!"

Usagi gave a start before relaxing and waving at her, heading towards the familiar figure. "Chizu-san!" he'd been brooding for the past evening, but seeing a familiar face brightened him up.

"You managed to get here." he titled his head back with a smile, "I shouldn't be surprised at that."

((the opening for the Fast Fowards season- gives a good look of the city :D http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Kxfb1Ch0AZ0 ))

Chizu came to a stop in front of the rabbit samurai and tapped her walking stick against the sidewalk, "It's good to see you again, Usagi-san."

She grinned, "Of course I made it. I'm a ninja. Although, I will admit this is a strange place and it is... very different from what I know at home."

He gave her a genuine smile, "I'm glad to see a familiar face." He gave a soft chuckle, "I've learned to trust the word of a ninja. At least the one's I know."

A few of the flying cars passed, not noticing the two at all, and Usagi gave a small sigh of relief. He glanced up at the tower- the others were there, and he had little else to do today.

"It is...everything moves on it's own." he seemed a little annoyed at this, "Even trying to drink water requires pushing five buttons."

Chizu nodded in reply and wrapped her cloak a bit tighter around her, following Usagi's glance upwards to the tower. "This is... impressive. Larger than any of the castles I have seen."

She paused, and raised an eyebrow, "Five buttons for mere water? Where are their wells?"

"This is one of the smaller towers. You should see the building the boy I am staying with owns." O'neil Tech Tower was massive, towering over most of the city.

"I'd prefer the castles." he said softly, remember the White Herring Castle of the Geishu clan.

"There aren't any- everything travels through metal strings or hollow pipes. It comes directly to the houses and offices."

"Smaller...? By the Gods..." For a moment she felt very small. Her country, her home, was dwarfed by this city. It was massive and seemed to go on forever.

"As would I. There's nothing quite like them." She put a hand on his shoulder, "I realize you have an obligation to your employer... but why don't you come back to Japan after all of this is over?"

She blinked. "That sounds... interesting."

Usagi nodded, sharing her feelings almost exactly. After living so long in a world of wood and paper- steel and glass was very over whelming.

He glanced at her when he felt the warmth of her hand on his shoulder, he gave a sigh that appeared in the air; "I wish to- I hope to. But Donatello has explained it that I must go back the way I arrived. Through something called a time- window."

Shaking his head he turned to face her fully, resting a hand on hers, "I don't understand what he means- only that if I try to go back, I will be drawn back here. Like a kite with a string." It had happened to him earlier, while in the jungles with Leo-kun.

"Ah, it is- I prefer our way though- the water tastes better."

"A time-window? That seems... too complicated." She frowned, "I do hope you manage to get back, some day. Life is less interesting without you around."

"A kite on a string... Hm. It feels like that sometimes. Life, that is." She shrugged and then gave a small laugh, "I imagine it does."

"I will- even if I have to rely in places outside of the Dutch Sciences." he said with a sigh before smiling, "Oh? I always thought you and the others would enjoy a break from my adventures?"

Chizu laughed, "I will say this: with you around, life is much more exciting and interesting than when you are not. And this from a ninja."

"Haha, I suppose that may be true. I can only try, I suppose?" He grinned a bit, he noticed how tightly she held the coat around her, "Come, you should see more of this place."

Chizu nodded, "That's what all of us can do." She shivered for a moment, "I think that would be a good idea, Usagi-san."

The shiver just made him hurry up, the walking help to keep them warm until he could find one of the strange little taverns that were around the city.

The fast food cafe wasn't to packed and was definitely warmer then outside. Usagi was not an expert on the future, he was far from it, but he had at least learned a few things that were worth seeing.

"The first time I was brought to this city, the Kame Clan had me eat something called a hot dog." He scratched his head, "I have yet to figure out just what it is though."

Chizu trailed after Usagi curiously. Where were they headed? She fervently hoped it was some place with a good fire. So, it was with some surprise that she stepped inside the suspiciously well-lit cafe and found it warm, warmer than it ought to be and with no fire in sight.

"A... hot dog?" Chizu blinked quizzically, "Sounds very strange."
