I'm so sorry for how long it took to finally get to this! I really wanted to give it my undivided attention - because you know how I love this story ♥ Also, it's still Valentine's Day here and honestly this is going to be the highlight of my day, what that's not pathetic at all what are you talking about
I just - ohmygod. I didn't think this story could get any better, but somehow, it did. The sticky notes were such an excellent touch! I thought you put them at just the perfect spots in the story and they didn't distract from the story at all - in fact, they really added to it. The handwriting for both of them was really cute, too :3
I just love the domestic atmosphere you've created here, how they're so utterly comfortable with each other and they have a schedule worked out where Francis cooks and Arthur does laundry and they do groceries. They just mesh so well together.
The historical bits from Francis' thesis are just brilliant, honestly. You make me want to go and take a European history class. Which will never happen, in all honesty, but you make me want to, and that's impressive all by itself.
Most of all, it's your portrayal of how they fell in love - so gradual, so slow, so natural, that they didn't even notice it. That's what I love the most about this story. Francis suddenly wanting to link pinkies with Arthur and not wanting to understand this new feeling that he doesn't even put it on his Analytical List - ♥ And Arthur coming to the realization when he's doing laundry - washing Francis' pink shirt? ♥ (Also Arthur checking out Francis' sausage, yeah, I see you, Arthur) And when they finally do come together it just feels so right and so natural and there's just this sense of why haven't they done this before?
The side-characters were lovely, too. Alfred being the sort of kid brother that takes Arthur out for hamburgers and oh the infamous and ever so wonderful Bad Friends Trio which can only make things better.... ♥
And, oh gosh, there are just so many details that I love - Arthur working at a record store, playing trumpet, the waistcoat!, Francis' green shirt, that one scene where Francis was calm and quiet and reviewing class notes and Arthur gets to see him like that, the jammy dodger line, and that fantastically appropriate ending... I could go on and on for ages, really, but I think you get the point - I love this story so, so, so much. I'm so glad you deanoned, my dear :D
I just reread this. I sound like such an insane fan girl ahaha orz
Okay. I just - sort of remembered all about this comment, because we're seriously getting scattered all over this journal, it's confusing - first off: THANK YOU. Gosh. I can't even say - I'm so flattered, you have no idea. I'm so glad you like all of the little details you list here, because, quite frankly, I love them too, and I'm such a sucker for domesticity andandand someone is currently filling a FrUK request of mine over on the kinkmeme with a wonderful human AU which sort of reminded me that I had this comment to answer and it goes round and round, it's all perfectly logical - I'm babbling again.
... /takes deep breath
And! yes! they have a schedule! I can just imagine that, actually, a big chart with fluo notes on it and their names in glaring red to remind them of their housework. Dorks ♥
Re: the thesis - I swear, I will write it someday. IT WILL HAPPEN. Meanwhile, I should do a ship manifesto, or something.
Alfred! I love Alfred when he's just being an obnoxious, not-so oblivious kid. He's seeing right through Arthur's protests, all right - hell, he realized they were dating way before they did!
Ahhh, god, I wish I could find an appropriate response to every little tidbit of your comment right there, but I'm still blushing. ♥♥♥ THANK YOU :D
