NYC - Day 1

May 30, 2007 00:17

So...I'm in New York. And it has been amazing.

Our plane got in around 3:30, and we got to our hotel on Sixth Avenue within an hour via a Lincoln Towncar. First and last time I'll ever be in a Lincoln. lol. But it was pretty awesome, and I couldn't get my nose off of the window during the entire drive. And our hotel room is kickass. It's the Hilton, so it's really nice. But we're on the 29th floor and on the end, so we have two window views. One is of central park in the distance, which is pretty cool.

So we got to our hotel, checked in, dumped our stuff, and then headed out for dinner at an Italian restaurant around the corner. Then we walked around the block to a drug store to buy stuff that we forgot, plus some cold medicine for me since I might be sick...dunno. But it hasn't kept me from enjoying the city, for damn sure.

We came back to the hotel then and dumped our stuff...again. Then we left for Times Square. We ended up wandering down Sixth Avenue, and then down a subway concourse for a little while (though we didn't ride) before arriving at the Rockefeller Center. Twas pretty awesome, even if it isn't ice skating season and people were dancing instead of skating. lol.

But then we finally moseyed over to Times Square, which has got to be the most amazing part of this city. It was nighttime, but with all of the neon signs and the people and everything...it might as well have been noon.

But we saw monster flagship stores for places like the Hard Rock Cafe, Toys R Us, Hersheys, etc. And there was a huge "Mama Sbarro's" - the mother of all Sbarro stores. Was Ashley happy? Yeah. Just a little. XD

And since Times Square is on Broadway, we accidentally found the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Where Beauty and the Beast is. *dies* Yeah. I freaked. And I ran over and starting taking pictures of everything. Obsessed? Me? No way.

And then we made our way back to the hotel. And we walked the entire way, amazingly enough. But I wouldn't have wanted to do it any other way - driving through NY is no fun, since you miss everything.

But...yeah. Now, I'm exhausted. It's bed time. And...we're seeing Beauty and the Beast tomorrow. JFDglkdjgj. I can't wait. XD
