Just got off the phone with Tyron. He had sent me the first draft of parts he assembled for my new machine.
It turns out he was at a loss when I told him my budget. He normally puts together PCs that have a max budget of a thousand bucks. He got together a team of 5 tech friends from the hardcore gaming community to mull over how to put together the most incredible machine for my budget. They want it to be more cost efficient and run better than a Mac Pro (the industry standard machine for 3D graphics and video rendering work). This is a big deal to them. A huge deal. Tyron tells me if they figure it out right I will have the most powerful machine known to man as far as he's aware.
He says it will be significant in the custom-built PC world.
Right now they're trying to find out if the graphics cards they picked out for me are specifically supported by Autodesk. These cards are half the price as the top tier graphics cards of their class and run marginally faster. He tells me they're always sold out. They come on the market and sell out immediately.
Goddamn. Dude got together with four of his geekiest friends and just figuring out the parts for this machine is a big deal that they're excited about. He makes it sound like they get to be part of something epic. Now I'm excited.
