So, I had this birthday...

I've been meaning to post about my super-go-awesome 25th birthday for the past two weeks (so, like, since it happened), but I'm busy and lazy and whatnot, and I'm just getting around to it now. Ah well...better late than never!

So yeah...I have totally been birthday'd! The celebrations began with a fantastic party featuring many quality guests (including several people I don't see very often, which made it pretty darn special). There were drinks and cake and quality '90s dance tunes, and a good time was had by all! Despite my insistence that gifts were not required, I ended up receiving an interesting mix of unexpected presents; on the one hand, I got either mind-altering substances or access to them (an LCBO gift certificate from Tiffany and Andy, for instance), and on the other, Heather gave me a book on addiction. Sometimes, I wonder what people think of me (or perhaps my friends just know me better than I'd like to think)...

Since my actual birthday landed on a Monday, it was a bit more subdued than the weekend revelries. Nevertheless, Bryan took me out for a quality birthday dinner, and I was showered with more gifts. These included a number of bike accessories I've been wanting for a while (like a light, so I can ride at night!), an amazing "Captain Awesome" shirt, and The Sims 3. Some minor graphics issues prevented me from actually playing my new game at first, but I managed to solve those yesterday, so I'm now all set for fun times with new Sims! When I inevitably reach the end of the summer without having done any thesis research, that will be why.

Richelle had to work the evening of my party, so she took me out for dinner and a movie the day after my birthday. I got to see yet more friends on the weekend, when various people (like JJ and Sharon and Mary!) happened to be in town, and delicious brunching adventures were organized.

Meghan attended my weekend birthday extravaganza, but for various reasons, I didn't get a chance to collect my gifts (ie. box of useless but hilarious crap) from her until this past weekend, when Meghan, Bryan, and I went to a medieval festival at Upper Canada Village. Now, I'm the proud owner of everything from hideous cleaning slippers to a tiny spatula to Wacky String ("Over 250 feet of safe party fun!!"), and I have pictures of jousting as well! Good times indeed.

In conclusion, I had lots of birthday fun, and got lots of cool birthday stuff. Thus far, 25 is looking pretty promising!

EDIT: Dammit, I knew that by leaving it this long, I'd forget things. I should have mentioned the lovely mail I received: a card and gift certificate from Bryan's family, and a card and SUPER AWESOME finger puppet (a ram!) from Vicky! SO MUCH BIRTHDAY!!!
