- CHARACTER INFORMATION
NAME: Len Kagamine
CODENAME: N/A
SERIES/SOURCE: Vocaloid (Meltdown/Revolution)
AGE: 14
GENDER: Male
ROLE: Student

BACKGROUND:
Born a minute apart, the Kagamine twins were always inseparable. Often the only way you could tell them apart was by Rin's hairbows. They were both always part of their school's music programs, loving to sing constantly.

There was nothing particularly special about them until they were scouted by a talent agency and put into the growing band called Vocaloid along with Miku Hatsune. It was then they met their rival in the Miku girl, finding that she was the only person they had ever met who could get more compliments than them on their singing.

Vocaloid quickly grew up in popularity, the Kagamine twins getting known for their depressive, if violent songs as much as Miku was known for happy pop music. Then Miku's powers started a fight in the crowd, and the band was forced to go on hiatus--the twins alone simply couldn't get the same reactions from the audience that Miku could.

Little did they know that their own powers had been absorbing the emotional energy Miku caused in crowds. Without that extra energy, they began to feel drained all the time.

On a field trip, their group passed by a nuclear reactor, which their powers latched onto right away. Len followed his sister as she crept closer and closer to that energy, his mind in a daze until he saw her go over the edge into the core of the reactor. He panicked and dove in after her, not thinking about the fact that normal humans would be killed in the process.

Since it was obvious that they were mutants--no normal human could soak up all the energy in a nuclear reactor and still walk around, in better health than before--their producer worked to produce the same cover up he'd managed for Miku and sent them to the Institute.

PERSONALITY:
Len Kagamine is very attached to his sister. Of the two of them, he tends to be the more closed off one, letting Rin be the one to put her foot in the door before following it with his own set of strengths and weaknesses. This is not to say he is shy or withdrawn, simply that he is just one step behind Rin in the bluntness of his personality.

He tends to highly competitive, taking failures in his work as insults to himself and Rin. The only one he's not constantly in competition with is his sister, but then sometimes things get a bit out of hand.

Len can often end up at the butt of his sister's jokes or wishes, but at the same time he protects her as best he can. With their powers the way they are, he will end up being the one of the duo to kick butt.

The twins are twisted in their connectivity, usually taking things to levels other people would not ever be comfortable with. He considers them part of each other more than two different people, and so doesn't see anything wrong with their relationship.

APPEARANCE:
Like a mirror image of his sister, Len has blond hair, tied up in a ponytail, while the front spikes up in a crazy way. He has blue eyes, and is rather thin, while short in height as well. he really hasn't hit much of his puberty and so is still pretty much the same height as his sister (he's taller than her five foot self by a little more than an inch), and if they swap hairstyles and clothes, it's practically impossible to tell who is who.

POWERS:
Both of the twins can absorb and release energy in various forms. Len is better at releasing energy, i.e. firing off bursts of energy. He can absorb energy as well, but is messy about it, often needing direct contact with the source. If he's absorbing from a person, (unless it's Rin) he needs to touch their bare skin, if it's a battery, he needs to stick his hands on the + and - ends (something that could kill other people if the voltage is high enough).

Len shares a connection with Rin where they trade energy back and forth constantly. This link is probably visible to those able to sense/manipulate energy, and depending on the amount of energy they've recently absorbed could be blindingly bright, or just a thin, dull wire. If poked or prodded energetically, it will zap the offending mutant.

ANYTHING ELSE?: Telepaths approach at your own risk. Their minds are blazing with pure energy and they will react defensively to intrusions. Also, the twins are sort of insane, so even without the defense mechanism, they're not the best people to go poking at.

- RP SAMPLES
First-person sample:
I heard there are other pairs of twins here. How many of you have had trouble with the rooming situation?

It's kind of unfair to split us up, after all we've been through.

Third-person sample:
As her blond hair disappeared over the edge, something in Len's mind snapped. The daze he had been floating in was gone and a flood of warmth spread through his limbs, burning as he bolted over the edge after her.

The light burned his wide blue eyes, even as he stared down, searching for that flash of blond. Rin! His thoughts screamed, with a sense of reaching out. She was his everything.

Something in him was grabbing at anything it could and the influx was overwelling.

His body was burning, his blood boiling, everything was on fire. He couldn't breath, couldn't see, and soon the pain drove his mind into darkness.

Len was almost surprised when he opened his eyes once more. The only part of him that wasn't screaming at him was his hand, trapped in Rin's grasp. She seemed to be sleeping peacefully, as he fought to keep his breath in his chest. Still, a calm seemed to be spreading from their tangled hands and soon his body was lulling into another kind of darkness, something more familiar and kindly.
