Northern Oaken War Manuevers youth pointe went really well. We didn't get to all the planned activities.

In the morning, we started out with Esther teaching Middle Eastern dance. Some of the kids got really into it, although some of the kids (particularly boys, who thought dancing was girly) didn't want to stay. Too bad Badger was busy on the list field.

After that we decorated folding fans. I need to remember to order more and set one aside for Shantel. She came over to help and was great with the younger kids, but we ran out of fans. I also didn't see her again to give her a token for helping.

In the afternoon, Shantel came back to help again (what a trooper!). We played heraldry games (including heraldic twister) and some plain old games, which broke up due to tears and tiredness. Paper bag puppets and heraldic scavenger hunt rounded out the day. The scavenger hunts are a big hit - I will definitely continue them as long as the event site will accommodate the kids and parents walking around.

Ended the day tired but happy. I got lots of thank yous from parents and kids, plus some hugs.
