Summary: Daehyun is a vampire and he lives in a house with a bunch of what people would call monsters. Oh what fun that'll be.
Daehyun despises living with roommates. People in general. However, this group of individuals makes it seem less bearable.
There's him, residential vampire. He's a bit of a klutz, but that's not his fault. Next is Himchan, the residential elf. And he's not talking house elf either. He's talking full on elf. One's that are so superficial and arrogant. However, on Himchan's good days, he's very caring and kind. There's Jongup, who Daehyun is unsure of what he is. All he knows is that he transforms on a full moon, but he's not exactly a wolf either. Daehyun asked him one time, but Jongup just smirked and told him not to worry about it. That made Daehyun scared.
There's Junhong, or Zelo, and he's a fairy. Daehyun knows that Zelo accidentally came into this realm and he has no idea how to get back. He's dealt with the human world so far, but that's because there's a bunch of other mythical creatures living in the house. Daehyun keeps reminding him that the people delivering their mail is a mailman, not a wizard that teleports their mail to different people. There's Yongguk, and Daehyun has no idea what he is either. Sometimes Daehyun would think he knows and tell Yongguk what he is, but the elder who smile and shake his head no. Daehyun gave up after the fifth try.
And last but not least, there's Youngjae, the resident ghost of the house. Youngjae said he wasn't sure how or when or why he died, but all he knows is that he's dead and he can't leave his house. So he decides to let these mythical creatures into his home and live and pay rent here. It wasn't a bad deal, to be honest.
Except for the fact that they all live under one roof.
-----
Daehyun went downstairs to see Himchan putting Zelo in a chokehold. Daehyun was about to go back upstairs and go back to bed, until Youngjae stopped him.
"Control them, please. Something about a mirror," Youngjae pleaded.
Daehyun groaned and walked up to the giant fairy (Daehyun still thinks that Zelo is lying about his origins) and the elf.
"Can I ask why you two are fighting?" Daehyun asked, rubbing his tired eyes.
"This little shit broke my fucking mirror," Himchan growled.
"It was an accident. I thought it was a magic phone that you use to converse with someone," Zelo whimpered out.
"Why would you honestly think that?" Daehyun asked.
"Well, Himchan talks to the mirror a lot, so…" Zelo explained.
Daehyun sighed. "Himchan, let go of him. We'll buy you a new fucking mirror," he said.
"Fine. But I want this little shit to pay for it," Himchan sneered, glaring at Zelo and letting him go.
Daehyun rolled his eyes and walked to the kitchen to make himself something. Preferably coffee. He went to the kitchen and saw Youngjae sitting on top of one of the counters.
"Didn't get any sleep?" Daehyun asked him.
"I don't really sleep, you know? Like… I'm already dead. So what's the point of sleeping?" Youngjae commented.
"Right. Anyway, where's Yongguk and Jongup? They're usually up at this time," he asked.
"The lovebirds are sleeping still. I can wake them up if you want," Youngjae offered.
"No thanks. The last time you did that I was the one that had to deal with the consequences," Daehyun said.
"It's not my fault that Himchan gets scared easily. Are you gonna wake them up or…?"
Daehyun thought about it. On one hand, he'll be able to see what Yongguk actually is and why he wouldn't tell them. However, on the other hand, he'll be mentally scarred by both of them and that's not something he likes to see at seven in the morning.
"Nah, I'm good. The lazy shits will wake themselves up or something," he said.
Youngjae only shrugged his shoulders and traveled towards the living room where Himchan and Zelo were. Daehyun drank his coffee in silence and enjoyed the taste. When Daehyun got bitten back then, he thought that he would hate the sunlight, be sleeping in coffins, can't eat garlic bread, or taste food ever again. Well, all of that was wrong. He wore sunglasses so that his eyes won't get bloodshot from the sun, he can eat all the foods - including garlic bread thank god. He can also just sleep in normal beds. The only thing he hates is the taste of blood, which he is trying to quit.
"Good morning!" Jongup greeted, stretching his back and walking towards the kitchen.
Daehyun just grunted and finished his coffee. He looked up and saw Yongguk coming down as well, wearing tiger print pajamas and an Obey hoodie. Daehyun never asked whether or not he was warm in that. He just dealt with it.
"So how did you sleep?" Jongup asked in a teasing tone. They both know full well he couldn't because of someone banging on the wall. Or two someone's and their late night activities.
"Don't even talk to me and don't even look at me. In fact, don't even be or breathe in my general vicinity," Daehyun hissed, glaring at the two and moving towards the living room where Himchan and Zelo were watching television.
"What's on?" Daehyun asked.
"Running Man is on, so that's pretty good. There's also We Got Married and Hello Baby," Youngjae said.
"So basically nothing," Daehyun said.
"Your magic box is broken again. Why isn't there anything interesting on?" Zelo asked.
Daehyun didn't really know. To be honest, he thought his own life should be a sitcom. Especially the people he lived with.
"What's on?" Jongup asked, holding a bowl of cereal and Yongguk holding a cup of coffee in his hand.
"Crap," Himchan muttered, flipping through channels and decided to settle on Running Man. They were entertaining when they want to.
Daehyun finished his coffee and set it on the coffee table. He'll deal with Himchan's whining later. Right now, he's sitting with his roommates/friends. To be honest, this is nice.
"As much as I would love to stay with all of you and watch terrible television, I need to head in to work," Himchan said.
"What do you do exactly?" Daehyun asked, getting up himself to get ready for his job at the hospital as a nurse.
"None of your concern," Himchan answered.
Daehyun hated it when he answered like that.
"I need to get ready, too. Jongup, where did you put my socks?" Yongguk asked, getting up and heading towards their room.
Daehyun didn't hear the answer to that question because he made it to his room and closed the door. He began to get changed for his day at the hospital.
-----
Daehyun put the mask over his face as he began to take blood out from one of the patience. He's trying so hard to quit and this isn't helping.
"Why do you wear that mask?" one of the patients asked him.
"No reason. I get nauseous when I smell blood, so this helps," Daehyun lied.
The patient said nothing else and kept quiet. When the vials were done being filled, Daehyun placed a gauge over the pierced hole and set the vials inside a box for the doctors to run the blood tests.
After a few hours of taking blood from people, it was finally quitting time. He took a deep breath and leaned his back against the seat of the bus. He shook his leg up and down and waited. He just wanted to get home and eat something before he decides one of these people was gonna be his dinner.
After a few stops, Daehyun finally gets off (without tripping over a few legs and air) and walks towards the house he's living in. He enters the house and the first thing he hears is screaming and a growl. He groaned and closed the door. He took off his shoes and walked towards where the sound is. When he entered the living room, he wished he went back outside.
Himchan was with a chair aiming at Jongup's face, with Yongguk pulling Himchan away and Zelo was floating up in the air. Youngjae was nowhere to be seen.
"I come home from a long day at work and this is what I come home to?" Daehyun questioned.
"This little shit attacked me first," Himchan spat out.
"So how was work?" Daehyun asked the elf.
Himchan glared at him. Whenever Himchan didn't have a good day at work, he likes to lash out at different people. His roommates were no exception.
"I told him not to take customer service, but he refused to listen to me," Youngjae said, standing next to Daehyun.
Daehyun jumped and landed face first on the floor.
"Give a warning next time!" Daehyun shouted.
Himchan stared at Daehyun, setting the chair down. "You know what, I feel better now. Seeing you like this makes me happy," he said.
Daehyun only flipped him off and got up. He looked at Yongguk and saw that he was wearing a thick pair of jeans.
"Aren't you hot in that?" he asked, standing up from the floor.
"I'm fine. I get too cold easily anyway," Yongguk explained.
Jongup bounced towards them and whispered into Yongguk's ear. Daehyun raised an eyebrow, but looked away. Zelo was now upside down, sitting with his legs crossed.
"You can come down now," Daehyun called out to him.
"Himchan is gonna get angry again. Might as well stay up here and wait for him to simmer down," Zelo said.
Daehyun sighed and sat down on one of the couches.
"Rough day?" Youngjae asked him, popping up beside him on the couch. Daehyun jumped and closed his eyes to calm himself down.
"They put me on blood duty again," he answered.
Youngjae frowned and bit his lip.
"I'm sorry. I thought you requested them not to do that job," Youngjae said.
"I did, but they don't care. They girl that's supposed to take the position was out sick, so I had to fill in for her until she comes back," he explained.
"Well if it makes you feel better, Jongup is going to change soon. It's the full moon and he needs to be locked up in the basement," Youngjae offered.
"Do you know what he changed in to on full moons? I've been trying to figure it out, but I could never tell," he asked.
"I don't know. The only one that knows is Yongguk and that's because he's been around a long time and knows how to deal with Jongup's kind," Youngjae said.
Daehyun furrowed his eyebrows. Long time? Yongguk looks like he's in his mid-twenties. He's not that old. Unless…
"When you say Yongguk has been here a long time, what do you mean?" Daehyun asked.
"I've seen him around a lot, even when I was a kid. He never ages," Youngjae explained.
Daehyun sighed. He'll start back from square one again. He looked around and saw Yongguk and Jongup gone, Himchan was making noise in the kitchen, and Zelo was right side up and watching something on the television. This seems about right.
-----
Daehyun woke up to a loud crash. He looked at the clock and saw that it was five in the morning. He groaned and forced himself out of bed. He walked down stairs and was met with a pair of florescent green cat eyes and black fur. The creature was staring intently at him, his brilliant white teeth glowing from the full moon. Daehyun could be mistaken, but he swore that the creature was growling at him.
He rubbed his sleepy eyes and saw what appeared to be a jaguar, but it was twice its size and its eyes were not yellow, but green. He froze in place, but he's unsure whether it's from fear or from the sheer brilliance of the giant cat.
"Daehyun! Run!" a deep familiar voice calls out.
The cat turns its attention to the person before Daehyun makes a break for it. The cat turns its attention back to Daehyun and lunges forward.
"Don't kill me!" Daehyun screams out, hiding behind a sofa, which the creature slashes its giant claws on the couch.
"You were supposed to be in your room!" Yongguk calls out, trying to get the cat away from him.
"I just heard a noise and-"
"Not you!" Yongguk said, but the cat pushed him away and forced him to slam his body against the wall, its tail whipping back and forth.
"What's with all the noise?" Himchan asks groggily, rubbing his eyes awake and Zelo trailing right behind him.
The cat hisses and roars out loudly, waking the two up from their slumber.
"Why the fuck is there a giant cat?" Himchan screeches out, trying to find a hiding spot around the house.
"He found his way out. I guess it's from the hormones or that it's because he's in heat," Yongguk explained, trying to get the cat's attention away from his friends.
Youngjae popped up beside Daehyun, but he ignored him and tried to get away from the angry cat.
"Is that Jongup?" Youngjae questioned.
Daehyun stared at him and furrowed his eyebrows. Jongup?
"Calm down! You need to focus on your human emotions!" Yongguk called out.
"Is that Jongup?" Youngjae questioned out again.
"Yes, that's him. He somehow got out of the Cage," Yongguk said, trying to tame him as best as he could.
"What do you mean he's out of his cage?" Zelo said, staying in the corner while the cat - Jongup - is trying to capture him with his giant paw.
"Hormones?" Yongguk questioned, unsure of the answer himself.
"I thought you were taking care of that!" Himchan shouted, spraying water at Jongup, who hissed and growled at him.
"He's in heat, meaning he's aggressive. Just because I take care of that, doesn't mean I could," Yongguk said, trying to dodge the water as best as he can.
Daehyun crawled his way towards the kitchen to try to find the biggest clip he could find. He remembered his older brother back then that a cat will go paralyzed on some part of the neck. He found several slips and made his way towards the angry Jongup.
"Put all of these clips on his neck! If he's a cat, it should paralyze him," Daehyun ordered handing the clips to Zelo, since he's the only one who seems to be closest to him.
Jongup's attention reverted to Daehyun and got into hunting position. He leaped forward and Daehyun quickly dodged it, but it left him a small cut on his cheek.
"Aw come on! I was on a three week streak!" Daehyun complained.
The cat ignored him and pounced at him again, grabbing onto his leg. Daehyun tried to get away from the fucking cat and felt him sink his claws into his leg.
"Anytime now!" Daehyun called out.
Zelo peaked up from Jongup's giant cat head and grabbed as much skin as he could. Jongup soon went limp as Zelo and what looked like Youngjae clipped his neck. Jongup retracted his claws and went limp on his side. Jongup blinked and looked around.
"So that's what Jongup turns in to. So what do you turn in to?" Zelo asked Yongguk.
Yongguk looked up at him. Zelo hid behind Himchan.
"He turns into a merman. That's why he refuses to be around water and that he's been around a long time. Mermen and mermaids live a long ass time and when he's near water, his scaly legs turn into a giant fish tail," Himchan explained.
They all stared at Himchan in wonder and confusion.
"I accidentally sprayed water on him and Jongup got mad at me. His legs are scaly though," Himchan pointed out.
Yongguk sighed and dropped his pajama pants. His legs were covered in rainbow scales, like a fish. He also picked up his pajama shirt to reveal slits on his sides, which Daehyun realized were his gills.
"I knew it! That's why the bathroom is always locked!" Youngjae shouted.
Daehyun rubbed his eyes and groaned. This is way too much excitement for one night.
"I'm going to bed. This is way too much information to handle in one night. Don't wake me up or else I will punch you in the face. Goodnight," Daehyun said, going back upstairs to get some sleep.
If he's lucky enough, someone else will punch him in the face.
He did not get his wish.
