(no subject)

The light level outside earlier was amazing. It was the kind of light that would be irritating to read by, but awesome for looking at things or going places. You only get that level of light in the summer, and only at times when it seems like the sun should have already gone down. It's probably somewhere between the point at which the sunset looks the nicest and the point at which the sun actually disappears, maybe after it disappears but while it's still shining somewhat. It reminds me of camp, and it makes me glad to be alive and have eyes.

On a more mundane subject, I want to put together a LiveCD that runs ZSNES, and maybe other emulation software if I feel like it and have space. Being able to pop something into many x86 machines and boot into Super Nintendo goodness would be pretty sweet. I'm looking at using Ubuntu since it's got Gnome, and I like Gnome, but if anybody has any better ideas, like possibly something more lightweight to run on lesser machines, I'm up for looking at other options. I cobbled together one system from old parts that I had running DistCCKnoppix for a while, which was pretty cool. It might get a hard drive at some point to actually do things, or it might get broken down and absorbed into other systems. We'll see. Also, I've been using amaroK today, since I got tired of RhythmBox dropping my library whenever I loaded it without having my network share mounted, and it seems pretty sweet. I had to get MySQL setup for it, but I wanted to do that anyway, and it seems to download album covers pretty well. It also looks very nice, and just seems somewhat more polished than RhythmBox. Maybe there is something to this KDE business after all. I've been compiling things for work this week. Tomorrow I'll probably compile some more. I enjoy being a nerd.
