Dear Self: BRUSH ALL THE WAY BACK. Do I have to time you?

May 19, 2009 11:29

I got my first cavity. My dreams for perfect teeth are ruined. ;w; There's even one developing on the opposite side... I'm 18! This shouldn't be happening! At least fillings aren't metallic like they used to be

DISCUSS. How bad will it hurt when they take it out? What does this cavity removing process entail? Is it time to start fearing the ( Read more... )

I'm absolutely terrified of the dentist. I had to get a root canal when I was eight, and that ruined any chance of me not being afraid of them.

The water drills? They hurt. A lot. Especially since you have a cavity. The whole process takes 45 minutes to an hour.

/fear mongering

YOU! YOUR WORDS COULD FULLY TERRIFY CHILDREN! *only partly terrified now* I am not afraid of the dentist, and I vow to never be! Of course, I'll have to get back to you on that once I have this cavity removed.

Sorry about the cavity, b-but, don't worry. It's not as bad as most people make it seem! Dentists use anesthesia before removing a cavity, so when the drill goes in, it's not going to hurt. All that you'll feel is some poking, and maaaaybe you'll bleed a little, and your mouth will feel a little weird after the anesthesia wears off, but that's about it.

Depending on how big the cavity is, it might take from 15 to 40 minutes, maybe an additional five minutes if your mouth is small like mine and your dentist has to be like "ASDF OPEN YOUR MOUTH" every five seconds. XD

Oh, that's good! Everyone talks about these painful drills and I wasn't sure if there was even anesthesia involved or not. Apparently the cavity's pretty small (it barely hurts as it is) so it shouldn't be too bad.

I started liking sweets in the 9th grade. Before that, I despised candy and all things chocolate~ I guess I've been hitting the sweet tooth a little too hard.

:# My worst experiences might have been with the orthodontist, though. I had to get separators for my molars way back when and those hurt constantly for days...

Don't freak out too hard, bb. It's nothing much. Doesn't hurt too much if your dentist is good. There's drilling and stuff, but like your face is numb so B|b
