So I graduated college this weekend! I'm sure I have a lot to say but I'm kind of lazy, so we'll see what I actually write down.

It was ridiculously hot this weekend. OMG hot. I picked up my mother from downtown on Friday and we tried to run to the Metra but didn't make it on time so, breathing heavy from running across downtown Chicago, we decided to get some food and then hang out for a little while. I showed Mom the Sears Tower because it's about two blocks from the Metra station. She's seen it before, obviously since she spent 40 years of her life in Chicago, but it was nice to see again and we didn't have anything else to do for an hour before the next train.

We get home and after being hot and lazy for a while (not a good combination when trying to pack), we went to the first graduation which involved the entire senior class. We were on the football field, and it was quite cool, which was nice. The speaker was Julia Louis-Dreyfus and she made a good speech. It wasn't Barack Obama (aka last year's speaker) but it was still good. Afterward, however, I'm starving, I'm hot, I can't find Audrey and she keeps trying to call me, and I keep having people try to talk at me from all sides, so needless to say I'm a horrible bitch. This is also the first time my parents have been in the same area together pretty much since the divorce so I was freaking out about that.

Eventually I found Audrey, then my mom and I went to eat at Panera (high class right there), and finished packing up my room. My mom stayed in the house although she wasn't technically supposed to. The next morning we had breakfast with my house mom Amie, then went to my school's graduation. I assumed it would be cool in the basketball arena but guess what, it was boiling hot. There was no air conditioning but they had fans...that did absolutely nothing for the heat. I was in my gown and wedged tightly onto the court, and it was bad. But I got through it in about two hours, and I high-tailed it out of there to return my gown and get my diploma before the other 1000 graduates get the same idea.

So upon returning my gown I find that they do not have my diploma! There is a "financial hold" and I can't get it until I pay this "financial hold." I know exactly what they're talking about, and this was taken care of THREE WEEKS AGO! As of three weeks ago, I had a credit to my account, not a balance.

I return to my family and burst into tears. I've gone through four years of a lot of pain at Northwestern and this was just the last straw. I couldn't handle it and I cried for quite some time. My family is trying to give me gifts and take pictures and hug me but I'm crying so hard that I just want everybody to go away. Oh, and btw, I got bitched at later by Louise because I "didn't say thank you" or something. I'm sorry, I'm crying hysterically and can't even breathe, and you're pointing out that I didn't say thank you? Ugh!

Then my sister Debbie, my mother, and I return to Chi Omega and pack up the car. We just barely fit all my junk in there and it's a bit of a tight squeeze as we drive down to Monee for my cousin's graduation party. We're only going because my mother and I haven't seen most of these people in at least six years, some of them I haven't seen since I was a baby. Well, traffic on I-90/94 to get there is a parking lot, and we cruise downtown and all the way to I-57 at the average speed of 11 mph. Once we hit I-57 there's no traffic or construction so we cruise fine there, but a trip that was supposed to take an hour took us almost four.

But we still got there and it was great to see my family again. I really can't tell you how I'm related to any of them, but they're cousins of some sort, and they all look just like me. It's amazing to see these people again. P.S. Debbie, Ma, and I look like shit from moving my junk into the car in 90 degree weather, but whatevs, it's family.

After the party (actually, just after cake) we came back to Wisco and I'm here in Slinger (outside of Milwaukee) with my sister and two nephews. My brother-in-law Dan's job takes him all over the place so he's rarely home, but I did get to see him briefly Sunday night. I like it here although my sister keeps the temperature at freezing all the time. I'll get used to it, I suppose.
