Out of nowhere Jenny heard the buzzing of her alarm. At first she was ready to push the snooze just like any other day and go back to bed for another fifteen minutes. And then she remember what day today was.
Today was her date with Nate, a day that should be savored for its every moment from beginning. She knew this was silly as she wouldn’t be seeing him for another few hours but she just couldn’t help herself. It was a daze really because the day had really come, it wasn’t her imagination. Today little Jenny Humphrey was going to be the official girlfriend of Nate Archibald. No matter how many times she went over the thought in her head she never got over it. Never.
She sighed a large sigh and pulled herself out of bed. This was going to be the best day of her life, if only she could get everything ready. First thing was first, shower and eat breakfast before going out and picking the perfect outfit for the day. Jenny knew that she was SO going to need Serena’s help, she definitely couldn’t do this one on her own. So before going into the kitchen or even running the shower water Jenny pulled out her phone and speed dialed Serena.
“Hey Serena, I was hoping that maybe you could come shopping with me.” Jenny had that small tone like Serena might just say no.
“Uh, sure. What are we shopping for?”
“Well, I have this date later today and I feel like I have nothing to wear.”
“A date, huh? Who’s the lucky guy?”
“Oh you know, just someone.”
“Just someone has you worked up like this, Jenny? Doubtful. Come on spill the beans. I’ll get it out of you sooner or later.”
“Well, we can talk about when we’re shopping okay. I was hoping you could come by here, I know Dan would love to see you. And then we’ll have a girls day of shopping and helping me get ready.”
“Okay Jenny, I’ll be there in like an hour.”
That gave Jenny an hour to shower and have a quick bite… It should be enough time she thought.

Before Jenny knew it Serena was standing there in the loft kissing Dan. It almost made Jenny want to barf to see this but she was happy that two of her favorite people were together. Plus Serena was being nice enough to take her shopping so she definitely couldn’t be telling her to get off her brother right now. Although, she could say that she was in a rush to get out of there. But the truth was that Jenny was still a little disheveled and needed another five minutes before she’d be ready to go.
“I just need five more minutes and then I’ll be ready.”
“No worries Jenny, take your time.”
Jenny ran back into the bathroom fixed her hair, adjusted her clothes and then ran back into the main room. “Okay, I’m totally ready to shop now.”
“Shopping, uh Jen what are you shopping for?” Dan was curious, and butting his nose in once again.
“Jenny has a date tonight.”
“Ugh, I didn’t really want Dan to know!”
“Well, considering I’m the one taking you shopping and Dan’s my boyfriend it pretty much seemed like a given that Dan was going to find out.”
“Well, uh Jen, I guess I won’t pry then. But he better not be a jerk and he better treat you the way you deserve.”
“Okay, thanks Dan. Serena, can we go now?” Jenny gave a sort of pouting look at Serena as though all of this time spent discussing her love life with her brother was killing her.
“Yeah, sure.” Serena gave Dan one last kiss and then led the way out of the loft to start the shopping adventure.

There was quiet for a while as Jenny and Serena made their way to the stores. Serena was trying not to pry and Jenny was trying to avoid letting anything slip.
Finally, they got to the store and the girls plowed out of the cab and headed into the store. Right as she was opening the door, Serena let in. "So, Jenny, why are we going shopping for an outfit instead of you designing it?"
It was a good question, Jenny had to give it to Serena for knowing that Jenny just about always made what she was going to wear so this had to be different.
"So who is this guy anyway who is making you all not normal Jenny and wanting to do something special?"
"It's Nate." Jenny's voice was sort of flat as though she wasn't exactly sure of what Serena was going to say to that.
"Nate. As in Blair's ex Nate?"
"Yeah, one in the same."
"Okay, so not that I'm not happy for you or anything Jenny but considering everything this is well, an interesting turn of events."
"Does that mean that I shouldn't be his girlfriend? Do you think it's a bad idea?"
"Considering we all know Blair is wrapped up in Chuck now, I don't think you have anything to worry about. And Nate's a good guy, he'll treat you right. I can totally see why you would want to go out with him."
"Thanks, it's good to know I have your support Serena."
"Of course Jenny, and Dan will come around too."
"Yeah, I hope so."
"He will. I'll make sure of it." Serena gave Jenny a little wink and then began to ruffle through the clothes while checking the price tags. "Okay, so I know this store isn't as expensive as most of the stores girls from Constance shop at but I do have an idea of the Humphrey pocketbook and these are expensive Jenny. Can you really afford this?"
"Well, not really, but I wanted it to be perfect."
"Okay well, since I want it to be perfect for you too, I'll cover whatever you decide to buy."
"No Serena, I can't let you do that."
"Jenny, I insist. Plus, it's kind of like I'm spoiling my little sister and I like that."
"Okay, if you insist."
For about another hour Jenny and Serena looked through clothes assessing their potential for a first official date. They came up with four different outfits based on however dressy the night was going to be since Jenny hadn't actually checked with him to find out. She was kind of embarrassed but Serena assured her that this wouldn't be a problem and that all she had to do was text Nate and he would tell her. Regardless, Jenny definitely needed them all, that way she'd have something for the next time.
