Victoria cast in new drama "茧镇传奇" ("Cocoon Town Legend")
On the 10th, SM Entertainment expressed, "Victoria has been confirmed to be in Chinese drama 《茧镇传奇》('Cocoon Town Legend'*)."
This drama will be directed by Li Shao Hong and is based off the mystery novel《塔罗女神探之茧镇奇案》("Tarot Goddess Sleuths Cocoon Town Mystery Case"**). Filming is to begin in December 12th in Jiangsu, Wujiang.
*Note: Official translations for the drama title have not yet been released.
**Note 2: The novel is originally a murder-based mystery novel.
Novel Based Synopsis
In the clear-skied, small town's silk farming business run by the Huang family, four maids suddenly die in succession, all cut across their abdomen. The beauty shop lady boss, You Yan Pu, suddenly commits suicide and her husband who has been paralyzed for many years suddenly disappears without a trace. The master, Huang Zhai Yuan who has been missing for years suddenly reappears in the library, but is killed by a startled third wife (aunt?) of the house. Pig butcher (or his prostitute?) keeps the secret of the member's frequent dealings, but mysteriously disappears and ultimately naked body is found floating face-down in the river. The deaths continue.
Everyone still continues to lie as before. With Witch/Sorceress/Wise Woman (?) Du Chun Xiao's hand of tarot cards, she begins to get down to it and unexpectedly these seemingly unrelated murder cases are linked together, and the truth behind everything is slowly revealed. Each and every one has a complex story/trigger, and sustains the Huang family's history and reputation (honor/disgrace), and the sorrowful secret is completely exposed
*The proverb used is 抽丝剥茧, which literally means "spun silk from cocoons", or to begin an investigation/get down to it. But the proverb itself is fitting with the actual base of the town/family.
