Summary: Yamada and Chinen are brothers but Chinen was adopted into the family. Yamada has a fiance and Chinen is Yamada's secret lover.
Warning: I did not proof read, so if there is any spelling or grammar error, just please ignore it LOL. It's late and I don't feel like proof reading my story.
He wakes up in bed and combs away the messy tangled locks in his hair; he rubbed his face and sighs. After, he turned around and laid his pairs of eyes on the sleeping body beside him. Breathing softly in and out as its body moved up and down, he gets up from his bed and walked out of the room. He opened the bedroom door and walked down the dark hallway, feeling the walls as he made his way to the kitchen. Once he entered the kitchen, he switched on the lights and walked up to the cupboard that held glass cups. He opens it and pulls out one then made his way to the fridge. He opens the fridge door and grabs the pitcher full of water. He pours himself a cup of cold water and places the pitcher back into the fridge. He takes a long gulp from the cup; he then places the cup on the counter.
“Ryosuke?” Ryosuke turned to look at the said voice; his fiancé was standing in the kitchen’s door way with her silk robe on. She walked up to him, “what’s the matter? Couldn’t sleep?” She asked him, Ryosuke shook his head, “I was just thirsty…that’s all” Ryosuke told her. She nodded, “well hurry and come back to bed okay?”
“Yeah…but let me go check up on how Yuri is doing” She smiles and cups Ryosuke’s face, placing a soft sweet peck on his lips first before nodding and then leaving him alone in the kitchen. Ryosuke sighed and watches as his future wife walked back to their shared room, after she had closed the door, he pours the rest of the water into the sink and places the cup inside. He then turns off the kitchen light and made his way to Yuri’s bedroom.
Once in front of the bedroom door, he opened it and looked inside. The light from the moon was shining inside, illuminating shadows that came from the curtain; he walked in and closed the door behind him. He walked up to the sleeping body and took a seat beside him; he reaches out and swiped away the fallen hair that covered the beautiful face. Ryosuke smiled and leaned down to place a soft kiss on the boy’s cheek.
13 years ago…
“What do you say?” she looked up at her husband, “what do you mean? If you feel that we should adopt, then I’m fine with that” he sighed and sat beside her, he grabbed her hands. “But…what about Ryosuke?” She smiles sweetly at her husband, “he’ll be fine, I’ll make sure to be a wonderful mother to Ryosuke and the adopted child” she told her husband. He smiled back at her and hugs her, “thank you for being such an understanding wife, I’m glad that I got married to you” her hands flew up and hugged her husband back, caressing his back. “No…thank you for understanding my situation” the both of them pulled apart. “I’ve always wanted more than one child, but after the accident I wasn’t able to anymore. But thank you for understanding the situation and not abandoning me” she thanked her husband.
“It’s settled then, we’ll go see the child tomorrow afternoon” he told her, she nodded. “I’ll be going to work now, if you need anything, just call me okay?” she nods again, she bids her husband good bye as he left through the door. She walked back into the house and entered her son’s room, there slept Yamada Ryosuke peacefully, cuddling his strawberry doll. She entered the bedroom and walked up to him, she slightly caresses his soft cheek.
“Will you be happy with the decision that your father and I have made?” she asked him, she sighed, “I’ve always wanted you to have a younger sibling…so that you can have a playmate instead of being lonely and being the only child. Ryosuke…”
The next day, the married couple walked into the orphanage. “Ah you must be the Yamada family” the lady at the front said, the husband nods. “Hai, we’re here as we’ve promised” he told the lady, she nodded. “Please this way, he’s in the room waiting” she leads the married couple to a certain room. She knocks first and then opened the door, “Sato san, the couple is here” she told the man inside. “Please, let them in” he told the secretary, she nodded and let the married couple into the small room.
There sat a smaller boy, his hair was cut into a bowl shaped hairstyle, he was small and skinny. He had on a pair of glasses, once the boy saw the couple; he looked and smiled at them showing his two bunny teeth. The mother smiled back and squatted in front of him, “what’s your name?”
“Yuri” the small little boy told her, she patted his head tears swelling into her eyes. “So young…such a sweet little boy you are” she told him as she sniffed. Her husband squatted beside her, “what’s the matter honey?” she looked at her husband and wiped away her tears. “Nothing…it’s just that, how can a little boy like him lose his parents at such a young age” she told her husband. He patted her shoulder and pulled her into a hug, “daijobou” he looked up at the man sitting in the chair behind Yuri. “Yuri is the boy that we’ll be adopting” he told his wife, she immediately popped her head up. “You…you mean?” he nods with a smile, “I came and saw Yuri about 3 weeks ago. Yuri was the first child that caught my attention; he sat there on the playground with a smile on his face watching the other kids played. When I saw him, he smiled back at me, at that time I knew that he, Yuri was the boy that we need, the boy that we’ll adopt as Ryosuke’s sibling” he told her.
She looked back at Yuri and grabbed his small hands, “neh Yuri”
“Hai”
“How does this sound? Calling me mother and him father, being a part of our family, having an older brother?” Yuri only smiled and nodded, “un” she grabbed Yuri into a hug.
After the adoption, the married couple took the boy now named Yamada Yuri to their house. Once inside they showed him the bedroom that he’ll be sharing with Ryosuke. After that, they took him to the play room to allow him to play.
Later that day, Ryosuke came home from school, he walked into the house and was greeted by his mother and with a peck on the cheek. “Neh Ryosuke”
“Nani?”
“I’ve got a present for you” Ryosuke’s face lightens up, “really? Is it something that I can eat? Strawberry maybe?” she laughs and shook her head, “no silly, but it’s something that you can play with” Ryosuke cocked his head to the side, “what do you mean mom?” she grabbed his hand and lead him down the hall to the play room. “Stay here” she told him, she then walked into the room, once inside she saw Yuri sitting on the ground still playing with the toy car that he played with ever since she left him in there that morning. “Yuri” Yuri looked up and then smiles, “come here, I want to introduce you to your new brother” Yuri nodded and dropped his toy. He walked up to his new mother; she took him by the hand and led him outside the room.
“Ryosuke” Ryosuke turned around, there he saw his mother holding another boy’s hand, and on that boy, the first thing Ryosuke noticed was the huge smile. “Ryosuke, this is your new brother, Yuri” she told him, “come say hi to him” Ryosuke hesitated to make a move, Yuri let go of his mother’s hand and walked up to Ryosuke. He grabbed Ryosuke’s left hand with both of his small hands, “hi Ryo chan, I’m glad to have an older brother to be looking after me” Yuri said with the same smile on his face. Ryosuke softened up and smiled back, “un” was all that Ryosuke answered.
“Ja, I’ll let the both of you play together, have fun” she said and left the two in the hallway. “Neh, want to play cars with me?” Yuri asked, Ryosuke nodded, both boys entered the play room.
Middle School….
“They say that, that boy beside Yamada sempai is his adopted brother” one of the girls from afar whispered to her friend. “He’s a cutie though, I’m surprised that he hasn’t found a girl yet” she whispered back to her friend.
“Hey Ryosuke” Ryosuke’s girlfriend greeted him and sat beside him; she hugged him from behind and rested her head on his back. “Oh hey Yumi” Ryosuke greeted her back, “hey Yuri” Yumi greeted Yuri. Yuri looked at her and smiled then nodded, “say Ryosuke, I have a friend, she’s single, and how about we try hooking her up with your brother?” Ryosuke looked at Yuri and then back his Yumi. “Well, if Yuri says yes then we can, but if he says no, then why don’t we just leave it?” Yamada says, Yumi looks at Yuri, “so what do you say Yuri?”
“No” Yuri simply replied and went back to his books, she giggles, “aww Yuri, you won’t be able to find yourself a girlfriend if you keep on refusing” Yuri looked back up, “I have Ryo chan” he tells her, Yumi laughs and pinches his cheeks. “You sure are adorable” Yumi pouts, “Ryosuke I’m jealous”
“Why?”
“Because you have such a cute younger brother to protect from hungry guys and girls” Yumi tells Ryosuke, Ryosuke only laughs, “Oh Yumi” Ryosuke said and pinches her cheek. “Mou…Ryosuke that hurts” she complained to him. Yuri watches as the two fought as a couple, he sighs and gets up. “Where are you going Yuri?”
“To the library, I need to study, see ya” Yuri told Ryosuke and left. “Why don’t you study more like Yuri?” Yumi said to Ryosuke, “because I’m a natural smart” Ryosuke replied back to her, she smacks him on the shoulder, “oh sure Ryosuke, but c’mon, lets go get some ice cream from the cafeteria” Ryosuke nods.
First year of high school….
“I hope you accept my feelings” a girl stood in front of Yuri, she had her hands out in front of her with a paper in her hands. Her head was bowed down facing the tiles, “eh?” Yuri says, she looks up, “I really like you Yuri kun, I…I want you to be my boyfriend” she tells him.
“C’mon Yuri, answer her” Ryosuke nudges his brother, “gomen”
“Eh?” Ryosuke said with his eyes widen, “what do you mean sorry Yuri? A girl just confessed to you”
“Gomen, but…but I can’t accept your feelings” Yuri tells the girl, she sighs, “I knew I was going to get rejected…but that’s okay, we can be friends neh?” she asked and Yuri nods, “hai…tomodachi”
Second year of high school….
“And this is my brother Yuri” Ryosuke introduced Yuri to his co-worker, Yuri looked at the girl. She seemed like she had stars in her eyes, “yoroshiku” Yuri greeted her and bowed with a smile. “I’m…I’m Rei” she introduced herself, “nice to meet you Rei san”
“No no please just call me Rei chan, I like it better that way” Rei tells Yuri, Yuri nods, “okay Rei chan” and she squealed. Ryosuke watches as the two talked, “uh…I guess I’ll leave the both of you alone then, ja ne” Ryosuke said and left quickly before Yuri was able to say anything else.
Later that day, Yuri came home and entered his shared bedroom with Ryosuke, he throws his bag on his bed and took off his school tie. Ryosuke looked up from his book, “so…how was the date with Rei chan?” Ryosuke asked, “what do you mean?” Yuri asked with a confused look on his face.
“I mean, how was it? Did you feel like she’s the one?”
“No…am I supposed to?” Yuri said with a confused look, Ryosuke sat up on his bed and shook his head. “Yuri, how are you going to find a girl if you don’t even try?”
“I don’t want to find one” Yuri tells Ryosuke, “what do you mean?”
“After all, I have you” Yuri said with a smile on his face, he grabs his tie and threw it into the laundry basked. Behind him Ryosuke sighs, “Yuri, you know well that the both of us will not be together like this forever…right? In the future, I’ll have my own wife and kids and so will you” Ryosuke tells Yuri. “But I don’t want a wife or any kids, I only want Ryosuke” Yuri replies back without looking back at his brother. Ryosuke let out another sigh and shook his head, “you’ll find that one person one day, and trust me Yuri” Ryosuke said and went back to his book.
Yuri looked at Ryosuke in the mirror and then walked off to the restroom.
Third year in high school….
Yuri sat there and watched as Yumi and Ryosuke sat in each other’s arms feeding strawberries to one another. He looked down at his bento box and sighs, he then gets up and dust off his pant. “Where are you going Yuri?” Ryosuke asks him, “I’m full, I’ll be heading to the library now, ja ne” Yuri tells the two and left.
“Why do I feel that Yuri is hiding something from you?” Yumi asked while watching Yuri’s back disappears from view. “What do you mean?” Ryosuke asked back, “I mean…well to me at least, to me it looks as if Yuri is hiding a deep secret from you and can’t spill it out” Yumi tells her dense boyfriend. Ryosuke shrugs, “don’t shrug Ryosuke, you’re his brother, help him out at least” Yumi said and hit him on the shoulder. “Itai, okay okay fine I’ll talk to him when we get home” Yumi smiled and pinches his nose, “that’s my boy”
Yuri opened the door to the roof top, he closes the door behind him and walked up to the railing. “I’m surprised to see you here” Yuri turned to look at the side of him, there stood a classmate of his named Nakajima Yuto. “Yeah…” Yuri said and turned back to look out beyond the school grounds. “What brought you here though?” Yuto asked him, he walked up to Yuri and stood beside him. “What are you looking at?” Yuto asked again but Yuri didn’t reply back, Yuto looked at the smaller boy and then followed his view down to a certain couple.
“Your brother?” Yuto asked but still Yuri didn’t reply back, “you like him don’t you? Or you like his girlfriend” Yuto said, this immediately caught Yuri’s attention because he quickly snapped his head to the side. “I guess I’m correct after all” Yuto said with a chuckle, “so which one is it? Your brother or his girlfriend?” Yuri sighed and turned back around, “Ryosuke” Yuri said in a whisper.
“You like your brother?” Yuto asked and then looked down at the couple, “I guess I know why you like him…after all you two aren’t blood brothers” Yuto told the smaller boy, Yuri sighed and walked away from the railing. Yuto turned and watches as the smaller boy walked up to the door, “neh Yuri kun, if you ever need to speak with someone about your problems, come to me okay?” Yuto said, Yuri stopped and turned around. “Thank you Yuto kun” and with that Yuri left Yuto alone on the roof top.
Spring break….
“Where are you going Yuri?” Ryosuke asked as Yuri slipped on his shoes, “I’m going over to Nakajima’s house” Yuri said. “But why? And how come all of a sudden, the both of you are like best of buddies now? What happened to always hanging out with me?” Ryosuke asked with an angry tone of voice. Yuri looked up “gomen Ryo chan, but Nakajima said that he needed my help on fixing something, ja ne” Yuri quickly said and left Ryosuke alone in the house. Ryosuke watches as the door closed in front of his face. Angrily, he walked back to his shared room with Yuri and grabbed the pillow that was on Yuri’s bed and flung it across the room. He sat down on his bed and started to hit his pillow.
“Hey Yuto” Yuri greeted Yuto as he walked up the drive way, Yuto looked up from his bike and smiled. “Oh you’re here” Yuri nods, both boys left the drive way and walked back into the house. “Neh, want to go see the cherry blossoms with me?” Yuri asked, “you mean today?” Yuri nods and Yuto smiled. “Sure” Yuri smiled back, “thanks Yuto”
“No problem” Yuto said and ruffled Yuri’s hair, “neh Yuri”
“Mm?”
“Have anyone told you before that you’ve got the sweetest smile on earth?” Yuto asked, Yuri nods, “hai, Ryo chan”
At home…
“Ryosuke?” Yumi popped her head inside the room, Ryosuke looked up from his pillow, “oh hey Yumi” Ryosuke greeted her, she walked in and closed the door behind her. “Hey, my friends are planning to go see the cherry blossom trees today, want to go?” she asked him, Ryosuke gets up from his laying position, “sure”
At the cherry blossom trees…
“It’s so pretty Yumi!!!” one of Yumi’s friend shouted, “neh neh, let me take a picture of you and Ryosuke san” Yumi nodded and grabbed him by the arm. The both of them posed in the middle of the walk way, just then behind the girl he saw Yuri with Yuto. Both boy walking side by side, smiling and talking. Ryosuke frowned, “cheese” she said and clicked the button. Without saying anything else, Ryosuke walked away from the group and up to Yuri and Yuto.
“Yuri” Ryosuke said, both boys stopped, “oh hey Ryo chan” Yuri greeted his brother, “nice to see you here too Ryosuke san” Yuto greeted back, “that’s Yamada san to you” Ryosuke told Yuto. “Eh?”
“Ryo chan, don’t say that to Yuto kun” Yuri said, “oh hey Yumi” Yumi walked up to the trio, “hey Yuri, ah good evening Nakajima kun” Yumi greeted him, Yuto nodded and greeted her back. “I thought you said that you were only going to be at Nakajima’s place?” Ryosuke asked Yuri, “oh…well I was, but I wanted to see the cherry blossom trees”
“But you always go with me every year” Ryosuke complained, “I know, but I wanted to go with Yuto kun this year since I’m always with you” Yuri told him. Ryosuke frowned, he grabbed Yuri by the hand, “we’re going home” he said, “What? But I haven’t finished…” Ryosuke turned back around angrily, “we’re going home and that’s final Yuri” Ryosuke said with an angry face. Yuri gulped and turned to look at Yuto, “gomen Yuto kun, we’ll go again another year” Yuto smiles, “no problem Yuri” Yuto said, and with that Ryosuke dragged Yuri home.
Once they reached home, Ryosuke dragged Yuri to their bedroom and pushed him inside and slammed the door. “What’s the matter Ryo chan?” Yuri asked innocently, Ryosuke looked up, “you still don’t know what’s the matter?” Yuri shook his head, “did…did I cause something to get you angry?”
“Out of everyone in school you decide to hang out with Nakajima, out of everyone. You started to ditch me more and more every single day ever since that day that the three of us, you, me and Yumi sat under that tree, remember?” Yuri nods, “you started to ditch me, I was wondering who you were hanging out with and to find out that it’s with Nakajima?”
“Well…Yuto kun understands me”
“Understands you? He hasn’t even known you for a year for pete sake, I’m the one that understands you the best and the most Yuri” Ryosuke said and pointed himself, “you don’t Ryo chan” Yuri said and this shocks Ryosuke. “What? What do you mean I don’t understand you? We’ve been living together, sharing things together ever since we were kids”
Yuri shook his head, “you don’t understand me Ryo chan” Yuri says again, “you’re always talking to me about getting a girlfriend, trying to hook me up with random girls just so that the both of us can have double dates with our girlfriends. Every time I’ll tell you that I don’t need one because I have you, yet you don’t understand my message. Even to this day you don’t understand my message”
“What…what do you mean?” Yuri sighs, “Ryo chan…I know that the both of us aren’t real brothers, I was adopted and accepted into his family and I’m grateful for that. But I can’t stop my feelings if I’ve fallen deeply in love with my brother” Yuri spills out, Ryosuke was stuck…he couldn’t say anything back.
“The reason why I kept my distance away from you ever since then and became very close to Yuto kun was because…I can’t control my feelings when I’m around you. I get jealous whenever I see you happily and freely hug Yumi in front of others. When I see that, I think to myself, what if I never was your younger brother and confessed to you, would you still accept me? I can’t control my feelings there fore I decided to distant myself away from you. And now…I’ve caused you to be upset with me…and I’m sorry for that. But…I just want to tell you how I feel, maybe then you’ll understand me more and allow me to distant myself away from you…I don’t want you to feel gross around me” Yuri tells Ryosuke, Ryosuke stood there, not saying anything else. Yuri sighs, without saying anything else to Ryosuke, Yuri left the room.
After spring break…
“Hey Ryosuke” Yumi greeted him and kissed him on the cheek, “Yuri isn’t with you?” Ryosuke shook his head. “Oh…” she sat down beside him, “what’s with the long face?” Ryosuke sighs and shook his head, “neh Yumi”
“Mm?” Ryosuke took in a deep breath, “lets break up”
“Wha…what?” Yumi was in utter shock, “lets break up” Ryosuke repeated himself, Yumi quickly grabbed his hands. “Ryosuke…have I done something wrong?” Ryosuke shook his head, “there’s a lot of things going on in my mind right now…a lot, and…and I just want a break from his relationship for a while” Ryosuke tells her. “From today on, lets be friends only okay?” Ryosuke said and left Yumi alone under the same tree that the trio used to always hang out together.
After school, at home…
“Yuri” Ryosuke calls for his brother as he walked into the room, Yuri looked up from his books, “nani?” Ryosuke closes the door behind him and walked up to the smaller boy. “I broke up with Yumi today” Yuri eye’s widen and he sits up in bed, “what? Why did you do that for?” Ryosuke sighs, “I just wanted to…I have a lot of things on my mind right now.”
“Oh…” was all Yuri said before going back to his books, “neh Yuri”
“Mm?” Yuri answered without looking up, “what if I told you that I wanted to kiss you, will you allow me to?” Yuri stopped his reading and looked at Ryosuke, and then laughs. “What? What’s so funny?” Ryosuke asked, “Ryo chan…are you worrying over the words that I told you? Ryo chan, I was serious with my words, but please don’t get all weird up about it” Yuri tells him.
“I’m serious Yuri” Yuri stopped laughing, “you mean…”
“I’ve been thinking, yes you aren’t my real brother, and yes that gives you rights to love me or love anyone else. That’s something I can’t control and neither can you, so I’ve been thinking ever since you told me your words…I…” without saying anything else Ryosuke leaned down and kissed Yuri on the lips. Yuri’s eyes widen and he immediately pushes Ryosuke back, “please Ryo chan…please stop this”
“What do you mean stop this? Isn’t this what you wanted? Me to love you back not as a brother but as a lover?”
“I…I…well yeah…but” Yuri sighs, “I don’t want you to feel like it’s a burden…my words I meant. Please don’t act as if you need to return my feelings…don’t force yourself. Yes I was serious but…please don’t break up with Yumi just so that you can return my feelings”
“What if I want to return my feelings to you? I’m not forcing myself Yuri, I’m not”
“Ryosuke…” this took Ryosuke by shock, this was the very first time in a long time that Yuri had called him by his full first name. Yuri only called him by his full name if he was angry or upset with him. “Yuri…you…”
“Please…please don’t do this…I don’t want to be a burden to you…please” Yuri tells Ryosuke with tears in his eyes, “I love you…but please don’t force yourself to love me back. I know that you still love Yumi dearly and I don’t want to have that feeling of guilt…I don’t so please stop this” Yuri said, “BUT I’M NOT FORCING MYSELF!” Ryosuke shouts, “Yuri…I’m serious, I don’t know when I fell in love with you…but I just did okay. I get very jealous and angry and mad and whatever you want to call it whenever you decide not to hang out with me but with others. I get mad whenever I see you with another man or another girl at our school. I feel lonely whenever you’re not there with me…Yuri I miss your presence” Ryosuke tells him. Yuri looked up and sniffs, “you only feel like that because ever since we were kids, we always hung out with each other”
“No…no it’s not that, and that’s not my feelings” Ryosuke sat down beside Yuri and pulled him into a hug. “I love you and I do…why can’t you just accept that? Don’t you know? When I saw you with Nakajima at the cherry blossom lane, my heart broke in halves? We’ve promised each other that we’ll always spend that moment with each other, have you forgotten?” Yuri was silent, Ryosuke tilted Yuri’s chin up, facing him, “I love you…so please don’t push me away…anymore” Ryosuke said and swept Yuri up in a kiss.
Weeks after the two became a couple in secret…
“Yuri…” Yuri turned around and saw Yumi, “hey Yumi” Yumi walked up to him, “how are you?”
“I’m doing good, what about you?” Yumi dug her shoe into the ground, “what’s the matter Yumi?” Yumi looked up, “Yuri…” she sighs, “I haven’t seen Ryosuke ever since our break up, I was wondering…can you…can you set up a meeting for me and him?” Yuri’s heart sank, reality had just hit him. Reality is that, Yumi, the girl in front of him was still deeply in love with his brother, and reality is that…he’s not supposed to be dating his brother, even though they’re not blood brother.
“I…”
“Please Yuri…please” Yumi pleaded, Yuri looked away and then back at her, he slowly then nods. Yumi smiles and hugs him, “thank you so much Yuri, tell him to come to the Ice Cream parlor after school” Yuri nods again, Yumi thanked him once more and then left.
“Yuri” Yuri turned around to see Ryosuke walking up to him, Ryosuke stopped and looked around. Seeing that the coast is clear, he kissed Yuri on the lips, “sorry to keep you waiting” Ryosuke apologized, Yuri looked down. “What’s the matter Yuri?”
“Ryo chan…reality just hit me”
“Huh? Reality? What’s gotten into you Yuri?” Yuri looked up; “Yumi came just before you got here” Ryosuke fell into a deep silent, “she wants you to meet her at the ice cream parlor after school”
“I won’t meet her”
“But why?”
“Because…because I have you, what else is there?”
“But Ryosuke, Yumi still really loves you and she really want to see you”
“I don’t care” Ryosuke let go of Yuri, “Ryosuke…you know well that the both of us can’t be together forever, we’ll forever be known as brothers even though we’re not blood brothers” Yuri told him. Ryosuke covered his ears, “I don’t want to hear it Yuri, I don’t want to hear it” Ryosuke said loudly, Yuri quickly pried Ryosuke’s hands away from his ears. “Ryo chan, stop it! I mean what I said, if you refuse to go see Yumi after school today, don’t expect me to be waiting for you at all” Yuri threatens. Ryosuke’s eyes widen and he quickly hugs Yuri, “fine fine I’ll go…but under one condition”
“What?”
“Come with me…”
After school at the Ice Cream Parlor….
“How…how have you been Ryosuke?” Yumi asked, “good, and you?”
“I’m doing well too” Yumi said, the both of them quickly fell into a deep silence, Yuri watches the two. “Say Yumi, ano are you doing anything this weekend?” Yuri asked, and Yumi shook her head. “Great, me and Ryo chan are planning to go watch a movie, want to come with us?” under the table Ryosuke grabbed Yuri’s hand and squeezed it hard.
“Really?” Yumi asked with a happy expression on her face and Yuri nods, “what time?”
“12 noon, meet us there” Yumi nods, “well… I got to get going, so I’ll see you guys on the weekend then” Yumi told the two and left. Ryosuke turned to face Yuri, “why did you do that for Yuri? It was supposed to be our day alone with each other”
“Ryo chan…I feel guilty”
“What?”
“I feel guilty because Yumi feels like this”
“She’s a girl, she can get over it”
“That’s not it Ryo chan…I was once in her shoes, sad and heart broken because the person I loved didn’t love me back. I know how she feels, Ryo chan…please…please don’t hurt Yumi, please go back to her” Yuri pleaded.
“No…”
“Why?”
“I only want to love one person…and that person is you” Ryosuke said softly, Yuri sighs, “you won’t get back with Yumi…right?” Ryosuke shook his head, “not in a million years”
“What if I stay beside you forever while you date Yumi, you can have me as your secret lover.” Ryosuke paused for a moment, “fine…”
Years later, after high school graduation…
“Ryosuke” Yumi called his name, they were at a restaurant, Yumi was sitting across from the brothers. Ryosuke had his hand on Yuri’s thigh, rubbing it up and down, “what is it Yumi” Ryosuke asked with a fake smile on his face.
“Lets get engage” Yuri accidently dropped his spoon and Ryosuke choked, “Ryosuke” Yumi said, she quickly grabbed a napkin and wiped his mouth. “I’m sorry, did I…did I surprise you?” Ryosuke only nodded as he grabbed his cup of water and gulped it down.
“What…what brought you to that idea?”
“Well…we’ve been dating forever now…and I want us to start on a family, since you love kids after all, so…I was wonder, lets get engage. We’re both only getting older and not any younger” Yumi said, “I…”
“I think it’s a wonderful idea” Yuri interrupts, “right Ryo chan?” Yuri asked him, “I…” Ryosuke looked back at Yuri, Yuri had on a “don’t you dare refuse the invitation” look. “I guess...but under one condition”
“Nani?”
“Yuri will be staying with us”
Back to the present time…
Yuri stirred in his sleep and opened his eyes, Ryosuke came into view. “Ryo chan…” Yuri said in whisper, his mouth forming a smile. “What are you doing here? I thought you were with Yumi?”
“I miss you, I want to cuddle you and sleep with you instead” Ryosuke said and leaned down, leaning his forehead on Yuri’s. Yuri smiles, “better go back before Yumi comes looking for you”
“Mm…Yuri”
“Nani?”
“Do you think…do you think me and Yumi will ever get marry?”
“Yeah…why?”
“We’ve been engage for 3 years now and…and we haven’t even gotten married yet”
“Maybe she’s just waiting for a right time…why do you want to get married so bad? Planning to leave me?” Ryosuke chuckles, “never” Ryosuke said and dipped down to kiss Yuri on the lips, the then traveled down and left butterfly kisses on Yuri’s neck. He unbuttons the first three buttons on Yuri’s pajama shirt and sucks on his collar bone.
“Ryo…chan” Yuri moans as Ryosuke continues sucking, after a good minute or two Ryosuke pulled back and licked the now redden spot. He then button Yuri’s shirt back up, “night sweetie” he said and kissed Yuri on the lips.
From outside Yumi stood in the hallway listening to both boys, of course she knew about their relationship, ever since she got back with Ryosuke. She’s not a dumb girl and she noticed it right away, she saw how much love Yuri gave Ryosuke and how much Ryosuke was glad to be with him more than her. She sighed and wiped away her tears, she looked down at the ring on her finger, she touches it. “It was just a way so that my parents won’t marry me off to some random man…Ryosuke” Yumi said, her lips quivered, she then takes off to her room.
“Go back already” Yuri said with a giggle, “one last kiss” Ryosuke pleaded, Yuri only shook his head and kissed him on the lips. “Okay now go” Yuri said with a stern voice, “hai hai, good night” Ryosuke said, kissed him on the forehead and left. Yuri only shook his head while smiling and pulled the blanket over his head.
The next day, Ryosuke woke up in an empty bed, he looked around for Yumi but she wasn’t in sight. Without thinking much, he got out of bed and walked to the kitchen, there was no Yumi in the kitchen so he decided to go outside in the backyard and still no Yumi. He yawned and entered the house again, heading straight towards Yuri’s room. He opened the door and saw that Yuri was still sleeping, he smiled and walked up to the sleeping body.
“Yuri~” Ryosuke sang softly, Yuri stirred and removes the blanket away from his face, “ohaiyou” Ryosuke greeted Yuri and laid a soft kiss on his lip. “Strange” Yuri said, “what do you mean?”
“You’re in my bedroom in the morning, you’re usually not in here until after 9 since that’s the time that Yumi goes to work”
“I couldn’t find her”
“What do you mean?” Ryosuke shrugs, “maybe she left earlier than usual” Yuri sat up in bed, “something doesn’t feel right Ryo chan”
“What do you mean?” Yuri looked at Ryosuke and then moved the blanket off of him. He slipped on his slippers and headed to the kitchen, he walked up to the counter and saw an envelope addressing to him. Yuri grabbed it and opened it…
Dear Yuri,
By the time you read this letter, I’m already gone from both of you and Ryosuke’s life. I’ve left without telling the both of you so please don’t hate me. So lets see…how to start this, me Yumi is very glad that I’ve met a wonderful person like you Yuri. You’re a very bright person, maybe that’s why Ryosuke fell deeply in love with you and wouldn’t come back to me. Your smile is one of a kind and it can make any men or women fall head over heels for you.
Yes Yuri, I knew about your relationship with Ryosuke, I knew it ever since I got back with Ryosuke. The way how he stares at you, the way how he rather spend time with you than me, and the way how he always brought you along with him on our dates. I knew, and I’m sorry for acting as if I never did. Now you must be wondering why I decided the engagement right? Well, my mom was deciding to marry me off to some random man I’ve never met in my entire life.
I felt like I needed help so I turned to the both of you, forcing Ryosuke to get engage with me and I’m sorry for hurting you in the process, but please understand where I was coming from. Yuri finished reading the letter and turned to the side, Ryosuke was already there reading it behind him. “Ryo chan…” Ryosuke turned Yuri around to face him and hugged him, Yuri cried in Ryosuke’s arm. “It’s okay Yuri…please don’t feel guilty anymore…”
5 years later…
“Tadaima” Ryosuke said as he walked into the house, Yuri popped his head out from the kitchen, “hey” Yuri greeted him. Ryosuke looked up and smiled, happy to see his lover standing there greeting him. He walked up to Yuri and kissed him on the lips, “what’s for dinner?”
“Your favorite” Yuri told him, “tired?” Ryosuke nods and pops his neck, “go take a seat, I’ll join you in a bit” Ryosuke nods and heads off to the living room. Yuri turns off the stove and walked into the living room with a strawberry drink. He places it in front of Ryosuke, “I can’t believe that you still like the flavor strawberry” Ryosuke laughs, “can’t blame me” Yuri nodded and sat down beside him. Ryosuke placed his arm around Yuri’s shoulder and kissed him on the head, “miss me today?” Yuri nods, “I always do”
“I know…mm…say Yuri”
“Mm?”
“Lets go visit parents grave tomorrow, yeah?” Yuri nods, “I kind of miss them anyways” Yuri said and hugged his lover, rubbing his head against Ryosuke’s chest. “And while we’re there, lets pay Yumi a visit too, I’m sure she misses us dearly as well” Yuri suggested, “oh yeah, Yumi too”
“I’ll drop by the flower shop tomorrow to grab some flowers then” Yuri suggested and Ryosuke nods, “hai, you do that then” Yuri smiles and closes his eyes, “Ryo chan”

He wakes up in bed and combs away the messy tangled locks in his hair; he rubbed his face and sighs. After, he turned around and laid his pairs of eyes on the sleeping body beside him. Breathing softly in and out as its body moved up and down, he gets up from his bed and walked out of the room. He opened the bedroom door and walked down the dark hallway, feeling the walls as he made his way to the kitchen. Once he entered the kitchen, he switched on the lights and walked up to the cupboard that held glass cups. He opens it and pulls out one then made his way to the fridge. He opens the fridge door and grabs the pitcher full of water. He pours himself a cup of cold water and places the pitcher back into the fridge. He takes a long gulp from the cup; he then places the cup on the counter.
“Ryosuke?” Ryosuke turned to look at the said voice; his fiancé was standing in the kitchen’s door way with her silk robe on. She walked up to him, “what’s the matter? Couldn’t sleep?” She asked him, Ryosuke shook his head, “I was just thirsty…that’s all” Ryosuke told her. She nodded, “well hurry and come back to bed okay?”
“Yeah…but let me go check up on how Yuri is doing” She smiles and cups Ryosuke’s face, placing a soft sweet peck on his lips first before nodding and then leaving him alone in the kitchen. Ryosuke sighed and watches as his future wife walked back to their shared room, after she had closed the door, he pours the rest of the water into the sink and places the cup inside. He then turns off the kitchen light and made his way to Yuri’s bedroom.
Once in front of the bedroom door, he opened it and looked inside. The light from the moon was shining inside, illuminating shadows that came from the curtain; he walked in and closed the door behind him. He walked up to the sleeping body and took a seat beside him; he reaches out and swiped away the fallen hair that covered the beautiful face. Ryosuke smiled and leaned down to place a soft kiss on the boy’s cheek.
13 years ago…
“What do you say?” she looked up at her husband, “what do you mean? If you feel that we should adopt, then I’m fine with that” he sighed and sat beside her, he grabbed her hands. “But…what about Ryosuke?” She smiles sweetly at her husband, “he’ll be fine, I’ll make sure to be a wonderful mother to Ryosuke and the adopted child” she told her husband. He smiled back at her and hugs her, “thank you for being such an understanding wife, I’m glad that I got married to you” her hands flew up and hugged her husband back, caressing his back. “No…thank you for understanding my situation” the both of them pulled apart. “I’ve always wanted more than one child, but after the accident I wasn’t able to anymore. But thank you for understanding the situation and not abandoning me” she thanked her husband.
“It’s settled then, we’ll go see the child tomorrow afternoon” he told her, she nodded. “I’ll be going to work now, if you need anything, just call me okay?” she nods again, she bids her husband good bye as he left through the door. She walked back into the house and entered her son’s room, there slept Yamada Ryosuke peacefully, cuddling his strawberry doll. She entered the bedroom and walked up to him, she slightly caresses his soft cheek.
“Will you be happy with the decision that your father and I have made?” she asked him, she sighed, “I’ve always wanted you to have a younger sibling…so that you can have a playmate instead of being lonely and being the only child. Ryosuke…”
The next day, the married couple walked into the orphanage. “Ah you must be the Yamada family” the lady at the front said, the husband nods. “Hai, we’re here as we’ve promised” he told the lady, she nodded. “Please this way, he’s in the room waiting” she leads the married couple to a certain room. She knocks first and then opened the door, “Sato san, the couple is here” she told the man inside. “Please, let them in” he told the secretary, she nodded and let the married couple into the small room.
There sat a smaller boy, his hair was cut into a bowl shaped hairstyle, he was small and skinny. He had on a pair of glasses, once the boy saw the couple; he looked and smiled at them showing his two bunny teeth. The mother smiled back and squatted in front of him, “what’s your name?”
“Yuri” the small little boy told her, she patted his head tears swelling into her eyes. “So young…such a sweet little boy you are” she told him as she sniffed. Her husband squatted beside her, “what’s the matter honey?” she looked at her husband and wiped away her tears. “Nothing…it’s just that, how can a little boy like him lose his parents at such a young age” she told her husband. He patted her shoulder and pulled her into a hug, “daijobou” he looked up at the man sitting in the chair behind Yuri. “Yuri is the boy that we’ll be adopting” he told his wife, she immediately popped her head up. “You…you mean?” he nods with a smile, “I came and saw Yuri about 3 weeks ago. Yuri was the first child that caught my attention; he sat there on the playground with a smile on his face watching the other kids played. When I saw him, he smiled back at me, at that time I knew that he, Yuri was the boy that we need, the boy that we’ll adopt as Ryosuke’s sibling” he told her.
She looked back at Yuri and grabbed his small hands, “neh Yuri”
“Hai”
“How does this sound? Calling me mother and him father, being a part of our family, having an older brother?” Yuri only smiled and nodded, “un” she grabbed Yuri into a hug.
After the adoption, the married couple took the boy now named Yamada Yuri to their house. Once inside they showed him the bedroom that he’ll be sharing with Ryosuke. After that, they took him to the play room to allow him to play.
Later that day, Ryosuke came home from school, he walked into the house and was greeted by his mother and with a peck on the cheek. “Neh Ryosuke”
“Nani?”
“I’ve got a present for you” Ryosuke’s face lightens up, “really? Is it something that I can eat? Strawberry maybe?” she laughs and shook her head, “no silly, but it’s something that you can play with” Ryosuke cocked his head to the side, “what do you mean mom?” she grabbed his hand and lead him down the hall to the play room. “Stay here” she told him, she then walked into the room, once inside she saw Yuri sitting on the ground still playing with the toy car that he played with ever since she left him in there that morning. “Yuri” Yuri looked up and then smiles, “come here, I want to introduce you to your new brother” Yuri nodded and dropped his toy. He walked up to his new mother; she took him by the hand and led him outside the room.
“Ryosuke” Ryosuke turned around, there he saw his mother holding another boy’s hand, and on that boy, the first thing Ryosuke noticed was the huge smile. “Ryosuke, this is your new brother, Yuri” she told him, “come say hi to him” Ryosuke hesitated to make a move, Yuri let go of his mother’s hand and walked up to Ryosuke. He grabbed Ryosuke’s left hand with both of his small hands, “hi Ryo chan, I’m glad to have an older brother to be looking after me” Yuri said with the same smile on his face. Ryosuke softened up and smiled back, “un” was all that Ryosuke answered.
“Ja, I’ll let the both of you play together, have fun” she said and left the two in the hallway. “Neh, want to play cars with me?” Yuri asked, Ryosuke nodded, both boys entered the play room.
Middle School….
“They say that, that boy beside Yamada sempai is his adopted brother” one of the girls from afar whispered to her friend. “He’s a cutie though, I’m surprised that he hasn’t found a girl yet” she whispered back to her friend.
“Hey Ryosuke” Ryosuke’s girlfriend greeted him and sat beside him; she hugged him from behind and rested her head on his back. “Oh hey Yumi” Ryosuke greeted her back, “hey Yuri” Yumi greeted Yuri. Yuri looked at her and smiled then nodded, “say Ryosuke, I have a friend, she’s single, and how about we try hooking her up with your brother?” Ryosuke looked at Yuri and then back his Yumi. “Well, if Yuri says yes then we can, but if he says no, then why don’t we just leave it?” Yamada says, Yumi looks at Yuri, “so what do you say Yuri?”
“No” Yuri simply replied and went back to his books, she giggles, “aww Yuri, you won’t be able to find yourself a girlfriend if you keep on refusing” Yuri looked back up, “I have Ryo chan” he tells her, Yumi laughs and pinches his cheeks. “You sure are adorable” Yumi pouts, “Ryosuke I’m jealous”
“Why?”
“Because you have such a cute younger brother to protect from hungry guys and girls” Yumi tells Ryosuke, Ryosuke only laughs, “Oh Yumi” Ryosuke said and pinches her cheek. “Mou…Ryosuke that hurts” she complained to him. Yuri watches as the two fought as a couple, he sighs and gets up. “Where are you going Yuri?”
“To the library, I need to study, see ya” Yuri told Ryosuke and left. “Why don’t you study more like Yuri?” Yumi said to Ryosuke, “because I’m a natural smart” Ryosuke replied back to her, she smacks him on the shoulder, “oh sure Ryosuke, but c’mon, lets go get some ice cream from the cafeteria” Ryosuke nods.
First year of high school….
“I hope you accept my feelings” a girl stood in front of Yuri, she had her hands out in front of her with a paper in her hands. Her head was bowed down facing the tiles, “eh?” Yuri says, she looks up, “I really like you Yuri kun, I…I want you to be my boyfriend” she tells him.
“C’mon Yuri, answer her” Ryosuke nudges his brother, “gomen”
“Eh?” Ryosuke said with his eyes widen, “what do you mean sorry Yuri? A girl just confessed to you”
“Gomen, but…but I can’t accept your feelings” Yuri tells the girl, she sighs, “I knew I was going to get rejected…but that’s okay, we can be friends neh?” she asked and Yuri nods, “hai…tomodachi”
Second year of high school….
“And this is my brother Yuri” Ryosuke introduced Yuri to his co-worker, Yuri looked at the girl. She seemed like she had stars in her eyes, “yoroshiku” Yuri greeted her and bowed with a smile. “I’m…I’m Rei” she introduced herself, “nice to meet you Rei san”
“No no please just call me Rei chan, I like it better that way” Rei tells Yuri, Yuri nods, “okay Rei chan” and she squealed. Ryosuke watches as the two talked, “uh…I guess I’ll leave the both of you alone then, ja ne” Ryosuke said and left quickly before Yuri was able to say anything else.
Later that day, Yuri came home and entered his shared bedroom with Ryosuke, he throws his bag on his bed and took off his school tie. Ryosuke looked up from his book, “so…how was the date with Rei chan?” Ryosuke asked, “what do you mean?” Yuri asked with a confused look on his face.
“I mean, how was it? Did you feel like she’s the one?”
“No…am I supposed to?” Yuri said with a confused look, Ryosuke sat up on his bed and shook his head. “Yuri, how are you going to find a girl if you don’t even try?”
“I don’t want to find one” Yuri tells Ryosuke, “what do you mean?”
“After all, I have you” Yuri said with a smile on his face, he grabs his tie and threw it into the laundry basked. Behind him Ryosuke sighs, “Yuri, you know well that the both of us will not be together like this forever…right? In the future, I’ll have my own wife and kids and so will you” Ryosuke tells Yuri. “But I don’t want a wife or any kids, I only want Ryosuke” Yuri replies back without looking back at his brother. Ryosuke let out another sigh and shook his head, “you’ll find that one person one day, and trust me Yuri” Ryosuke said and went back to his book.
Yuri looked at Ryosuke in the mirror and then walked off to the restroom.
Third year in high school….
Yuri sat there and watched as Yumi and Ryosuke sat in each other’s arms feeding strawberries to one another. He looked down at his bento box and sighs, he then gets up and dust off his pant. “Where are you going Yuri?” Ryosuke asks him, “I’m full, I’ll be heading to the library now, ja ne” Yuri tells the two and left.
“Why do I feel that Yuri is hiding something from you?” Yumi asked while watching Yuri’s back disappears from view. “What do you mean?” Ryosuke asked back, “I mean…well to me at least, to me it looks as if Yuri is hiding a deep secret from you and can’t spill it out” Yumi tells her dense boyfriend. Ryosuke shrugs, “don’t shrug Ryosuke, you’re his brother, help him out at least” Yumi said and hit him on the shoulder. “Itai, okay okay fine I’ll talk to him when we get home” Yumi smiled and pinches his nose, “that’s my boy”
Yuri opened the door to the roof top, he closes the door behind him and walked up to the railing. “I’m surprised to see you here” Yuri turned to look at the side of him, there stood a classmate of his named Nakajima Yuto. “Yeah…” Yuri said and turned back to look out beyond the school grounds. “What brought you here though?” Yuto asked him, he walked up to Yuri and stood beside him. “What are you looking at?” Yuto asked again but Yuri didn’t reply back, Yuto looked at the smaller boy and then followed his view down to a certain couple.
“Your brother?” Yuto asked but still Yuri didn’t reply back, “you like him don’t you? Or you like his girlfriend” Yuto said, this immediately caught Yuri’s attention because he quickly snapped his head to the side. “I guess I’m correct after all” Yuto said with a chuckle, “so which one is it? Your brother or his girlfriend?” Yuri sighed and turned back around, “Ryosuke” Yuri said in a whisper.
“You like your brother?” Yuto asked and then looked down at the couple, “I guess I know why you like him…after all you two aren’t blood brothers” Yuto told the smaller boy, Yuri sighed and walked away from the railing. Yuto turned and watches as the smaller boy walked up to the door, “neh Yuri kun, if you ever need to speak with someone about your problems, come to me okay?” Yuto said, Yuri stopped and turned around. “Thank you Yuto kun” and with that Yuri left Yuto alone on the roof top.
Spring break….
“Where are you going Yuri?” Ryosuke asked as Yuri slipped on his shoes, “I’m going over to Nakajima’s house” Yuri said. “But why? And how come all of a sudden, the both of you are like best of buddies now? What happened to always hanging out with me?” Ryosuke asked with an angry tone of voice. Yuri looked up “gomen Ryo chan, but Nakajima said that he needed my help on fixing something, ja ne” Yuri quickly said and left Ryosuke alone in the house. Ryosuke watches as the door closed in front of his face. Angrily, he walked back to his shared room with Yuri and grabbed the pillow that was on Yuri’s bed and flung it across the room. He sat down on his bed and started to hit his pillow.
“Hey Yuto” Yuri greeted Yuto as he walked up the drive way, Yuto looked up from his bike and smiled. “Oh you’re here” Yuri nods, both boys left the drive way and walked back into the house. “Neh, want to go see the cherry blossoms with me?” Yuri asked, “you mean today?” Yuri nods and Yuto smiled. “Sure” Yuri smiled back, “thanks Yuto”
“No problem” Yuto said and ruffled Yuri’s hair, “neh Yuri”
“Mm?”
“Have anyone told you before that you’ve got the sweetest smile on earth?” Yuto asked, Yuri nods, “hai, Ryo chan”
At home…
“Ryosuke?” Yumi popped her head inside the room, Ryosuke looked up from his pillow, “oh hey Yumi” Ryosuke greeted her, she walked in and closed the door behind her. “Hey, my friends are planning to go see the cherry blossom trees today, want to go?” she asked him, Ryosuke gets up from his laying position, “sure”
At the cherry blossom trees…
“It’s so pretty Yumi!!!” one of Yumi’s friend shouted, “neh neh, let me take a picture of you and Ryosuke san” Yumi nodded and grabbed him by the arm. The both of them posed in the middle of the walk way, just then behind the girl he saw Yuri with Yuto. Both boy walking side by side, smiling and talking. Ryosuke frowned, “cheese” she said and clicked the button. Without saying anything else, Ryosuke walked away from the group and up to Yuri and Yuto.
“Yuri” Ryosuke said, both boys stopped, “oh hey Ryo chan” Yuri greeted his brother, “nice to see you here too Ryosuke san” Yuto greeted back, “that’s Yamada san to you” Ryosuke told Yuto. “Eh?”
“Ryo chan, don’t say that to Yuto kun” Yuri said, “oh hey Yumi” Yumi walked up to the trio, “hey Yuri, ah good evening Nakajima kun” Yumi greeted him, Yuto nodded and greeted her back. “I thought you said that you were only going to be at Nakajima’s place?” Ryosuke asked Yuri, “oh…well I was, but I wanted to see the cherry blossom trees”
“But you always go with me every year” Ryosuke complained, “I know, but I wanted to go with Yuto kun this year since I’m always with you” Yuri told him. Ryosuke frowned, he grabbed Yuri by the hand, “we’re going home” he said, “What? But I haven’t finished…” Ryosuke turned back around angrily, “we’re going home and that’s final Yuri” Ryosuke said with an angry face. Yuri gulped and turned to look at Yuto, “gomen Yuto kun, we’ll go again another year” Yuto smiles, “no problem Yuri” Yuto said, and with that Ryosuke dragged Yuri home.
Once they reached home, Ryosuke dragged Yuri to their bedroom and pushed him inside and slammed the door. “What’s the matter Ryo chan?” Yuri asked innocently, Ryosuke looked up, “you still don’t know what’s the matter?” Yuri shook his head, “did…did I cause something to get you angry?”
“Out of everyone in school you decide to hang out with Nakajima, out of everyone. You started to ditch me more and more every single day ever since that day that the three of us, you, me and Yumi sat under that tree, remember?” Yuri nods, “you started to ditch me, I was wondering who you were hanging out with and to find out that it’s with Nakajima?”
“Well…Yuto kun understands me”
“Understands you? He hasn’t even known you for a year for pete sake, I’m the one that understands you the best and the most Yuri” Ryosuke said and pointed himself, “you don’t Ryo chan” Yuri said and this shocks Ryosuke. “What? What do you mean I don’t understand you? We’ve been living together, sharing things together ever since we were kids”
Yuri shook his head, “you don’t understand me Ryo chan” Yuri says again, “you’re always talking to me about getting a girlfriend, trying to hook me up with random girls just so that the both of us can have double dates with our girlfriends. Every time I’ll tell you that I don’t need one because I have you, yet you don’t understand my message. Even to this day you don’t understand my message”
“What…what do you mean?” Yuri sighs, “Ryo chan…I know that the both of us aren’t real brothers, I was adopted and accepted into his family and I’m grateful for that. But I can’t stop my feelings if I’ve fallen deeply in love with my brother” Yuri spills out, Ryosuke was stuck…he couldn’t say anything back.
“The reason why I kept my distance away from you ever since then and became very close to Yuto kun was because…I can’t control my feelings when I’m around you. I get jealous whenever I see you happily and freely hug Yumi in front of others. When I see that, I think to myself, what if I never was your younger brother and confessed to you, would you still accept me? I can’t control my feelings there fore I decided to distant myself away from you. And now…I’ve caused you to be upset with me…and I’m sorry for that. But…I just want to tell you how I feel, maybe then you’ll understand me more and allow me to distant myself away from you…I don’t want you to feel gross around me” Yuri tells Ryosuke, Ryosuke stood there, not saying anything else. Yuri sighs, without saying anything else to Ryosuke, Yuri left the room.
After spring break…
“Hey Ryosuke” Yumi greeted him and kissed him on the cheek, “Yuri isn’t with you?” Ryosuke shook his head. “Oh…” she sat down beside him, “what’s with the long face?” Ryosuke sighs and shook his head, “neh Yumi”
“Mm?” Ryosuke took in a deep breath, “lets break up”
“Wha…what?” Yumi was in utter shock, “lets break up” Ryosuke repeated himself, Yumi quickly grabbed his hands. “Ryosuke…have I done something wrong?” Ryosuke shook his head, “there’s a lot of things going on in my mind right now…a lot, and…and I just want a break from his relationship for a while” Ryosuke tells her. “From today on, lets be friends only okay?” Ryosuke said and left Yumi alone under the same tree that the trio used to always hang out together.
After school, at home…
“Yuri” Ryosuke calls for his brother as he walked into the room, Yuri looked up from his books, “nani?” Ryosuke closes the door behind him and walked up to the smaller boy. “I broke up with Yumi today” Yuri eye’s widen and he sits up in bed, “what? Why did you do that for?” Ryosuke sighs, “I just wanted to…I have a lot of things on my mind right now.”
“Oh…” was all Yuri said before going back to his books, “neh Yuri”
“Mm?” Yuri answered without looking up, “what if I told you that I wanted to kiss you, will you allow me to?” Yuri stopped his reading and looked at Ryosuke, and then laughs. “What? What’s so funny?” Ryosuke asked, “Ryo chan…are you worrying over the words that I told you? Ryo chan, I was serious with my words, but please don’t get all weird up about it” Yuri tells him.
“I’m serious Yuri” Yuri stopped laughing, “you mean…”
“I’ve been thinking, yes you aren’t my real brother, and yes that gives you rights to love me or love anyone else. That’s something I can’t control and neither can you, so I’ve been thinking ever since you told me your words…I…” without saying anything else Ryosuke leaned down and kissed Yuri on the lips. Yuri’s eyes widen and he immediately pushes Ryosuke back, “please Ryo chan…please stop this”
“What do you mean stop this? Isn’t this what you wanted? Me to love you back not as a brother but as a lover?”
“I…I…well yeah…but” Yuri sighs, “I don’t want you to feel like it’s a burden…my words I meant. Please don’t act as if you need to return my feelings…don’t force yourself. Yes I was serious but…please don’t break up with Yumi just so that you can return my feelings”
“What if I want to return my feelings to you? I’m not forcing myself Yuri, I’m not”
“Ryosuke…” this took Ryosuke by shock, this was the very first time in a long time that Yuri had called him by his full first name. Yuri only called him by his full name if he was angry or upset with him. “Yuri…you…”
“Please…please don’t do this…I don’t want to be a burden to you…please” Yuri tells Ryosuke with tears in his eyes, “I love you…but please don’t force yourself to love me back. I know that you still love Yumi dearly and I don’t want to have that feeling of guilt…I don’t so please stop this” Yuri said, “BUT I’M NOT FORCING MYSELF!” Ryosuke shouts, “Yuri…I’m serious, I don’t know when I fell in love with you…but I just did okay. I get very jealous and angry and mad and whatever you want to call it whenever you decide not to hang out with me but with others. I get mad whenever I see you with another man or another girl at our school. I feel lonely whenever you’re not there with me…Yuri I miss your presence” Ryosuke tells him. Yuri looked up and sniffs, “you only feel like that because ever since we were kids, we always hung out with each other”
“No…no it’s not that, and that’s not my feelings” Ryosuke sat down beside Yuri and pulled him into a hug. “I love you and I do…why can’t you just accept that? Don’t you know? When I saw you with Nakajima at the cherry blossom lane, my heart broke in halves? We’ve promised each other that we’ll always spend that moment with each other, have you forgotten?” Yuri was silent, Ryosuke tilted Yuri’s chin up, facing him, “I love you…so please don’t push me away…anymore” Ryosuke said and swept Yuri up in a kiss.
Weeks after the two became a couple in secret…
“Yuri…” Yuri turned around and saw Yumi, “hey Yumi” Yumi walked up to him, “how are you?”
“I’m doing good, what about you?” Yumi dug her shoe into the ground, “what’s the matter Yumi?” Yumi looked up, “Yuri…” she sighs, “I haven’t seen Ryosuke ever since our break up, I was wondering…can you…can you set up a meeting for me and him?” Yuri’s heart sank, reality had just hit him. Reality is that, Yumi, the girl in front of him was still deeply in love with his brother, and reality is that…he’s not supposed to be dating his brother, even though they’re not blood brother.
“I…”
“Please Yuri…please” Yumi pleaded, Yuri looked away and then back at her, he slowly then nods. Yumi smiles and hugs him, “thank you so much Yuri, tell him to come to the Ice Cream parlor after school” Yuri nods again, Yumi thanked him once more and then left.
“Yuri” Yuri turned around to see Ryosuke walking up to him, Ryosuke stopped and looked around. Seeing that the coast is clear, he kissed Yuri on the lips, “sorry to keep you waiting” Ryosuke apologized, Yuri looked down. “What’s the matter Yuri?”
“Ryo chan…reality just hit me”
“Huh? Reality? What’s gotten into you Yuri?” Yuri looked up; “Yumi came just before you got here” Ryosuke fell into a deep silent, “she wants you to meet her at the ice cream parlor after school”
“I won’t meet her”
“But why?”
“Because…because I have you, what else is there?”
“But Ryosuke, Yumi still really loves you and she really want to see you”
“I don’t care” Ryosuke let go of Yuri, “Ryosuke…you know well that the both of us can’t be together forever, we’ll forever be known as brothers even though we’re not blood brothers” Yuri told him. Ryosuke covered his ears, “I don’t want to hear it Yuri, I don’t want to hear it” Ryosuke said loudly, Yuri quickly pried Ryosuke’s hands away from his ears. “Ryo chan, stop it! I mean what I said, if you refuse to go see Yumi after school today, don’t expect me to be waiting for you at all” Yuri threatens. Ryosuke’s eyes widen and he quickly hugs Yuri, “fine fine I’ll go…but under one condition”
“What?”
“Come with me…”
After school at the Ice Cream Parlor….
“How…how have you been Ryosuke?” Yumi asked, “good, and you?”
“I’m doing well too” Yumi said, the both of them quickly fell into a deep silence, Yuri watches the two. “Say Yumi, ano are you doing anything this weekend?” Yuri asked, and Yumi shook her head. “Great, me and Ryo chan are planning to go watch a movie, want to come with us?” under the table Ryosuke grabbed Yuri’s hand and squeezed it hard.
“Really?” Yumi asked with a happy expression on her face and Yuri nods, “what time?”
“12 noon, meet us there” Yumi nods, “well… I got to get going, so I’ll see you guys on the weekend then” Yumi told the two and left. Ryosuke turned to face Yuri, “why did you do that for Yuri? It was supposed to be our day alone with each other”
“Ryo chan…I feel guilty”
“What?”
“I feel guilty because Yumi feels like this”
“She’s a girl, she can get over it”
“That’s not it Ryo chan…I was once in her shoes, sad and heart broken because the person I loved didn’t love me back. I know how she feels, Ryo chan…please…please don’t hurt Yumi, please go back to her” Yuri pleaded.
“No…”
“Why?”
“I only want to love one person…and that person is you” Ryosuke said softly, Yuri sighs, “you won’t get back with Yumi…right?” Ryosuke shook his head, “not in a million years”
“What if I stay beside you forever while you date Yumi, you can have me as your secret lover.” Ryosuke paused for a moment, “fine…”
Years later, after high school graduation…
“Ryosuke” Yumi called his name, they were at a restaurant, Yumi was sitting across from the brothers. Ryosuke had his hand on Yuri’s thigh, rubbing it up and down, “what is it Yumi” Ryosuke asked with a fake smile on his face.
“Lets get engage” Yuri accidently dropped his spoon and Ryosuke choked, “Ryosuke” Yumi said, she quickly grabbed a napkin and wiped his mouth. “I’m sorry, did I…did I surprise you?” Ryosuke only nodded as he grabbed his cup of water and gulped it down.
“What…what brought you to that idea?”
“Well…we’ve been dating forever now…and I want us to start on a family, since you love kids after all, so…I was wonder, lets get engage. We’re both only getting older and not any younger” Yumi said, “I…”
“I think it’s a wonderful idea” Yuri interrupts, “right Ryo chan?” Yuri asked him, “I…” Ryosuke looked back at Yuri, Yuri had on a “don’t you dare refuse the invitation” look. “I guess...but under one condition”
“Nani?”
“Yuri will be staying with us”
Back to the present time…
Yuri stirred in his sleep and opened his eyes, Ryosuke came into view. “Ryo chan…” Yuri said in whisper, his mouth forming a smile. “What are you doing here? I thought you were with Yumi?”
“I miss you, I want to cuddle you and sleep with you instead” Ryosuke said and leaned down, leaning his forehead on Yuri’s. Yuri smiles, “better go back before Yumi comes looking for you”
“Mm…Yuri”
“Nani?”
“Do you think…do you think me and Yumi will ever get marry?”
“Yeah…why?”
“We’ve been engage for 3 years now and…and we haven’t even gotten married yet”
“Maybe she’s just waiting for a right time…why do you want to get married so bad? Planning to leave me?” Ryosuke chuckles, “never” Ryosuke said and dipped down to kiss Yuri on the lips, the then traveled down and left butterfly kisses on Yuri’s neck. He unbuttons the first three buttons on Yuri’s pajama shirt and sucks on his collar bone.
“Ryo…chan” Yuri moans as Ryosuke continues sucking, after a good minute or two Ryosuke pulled back and licked the now redden spot. He then button Yuri’s shirt back up, “night sweetie” he said and kissed Yuri on the lips.
From outside Yumi stood in the hallway listening to both boys, of course she knew about their relationship, ever since she got back with Ryosuke. She’s not a dumb girl and she noticed it right away, she saw how much love Yuri gave Ryosuke and how much Ryosuke was glad to be with him more than her. She sighed and wiped away her tears, she looked down at the ring on her finger, she touches it. “It was just a way so that my parents won’t marry me off to some random man…Ryosuke” Yumi said, her lips quivered, she then takes off to her room.
“Go back already” Yuri said with a giggle, “one last kiss” Ryosuke pleaded, Yuri only shook his head and kissed him on the lips. “Okay now go” Yuri said with a stern voice, “hai hai, good night” Ryosuke said, kissed him on the forehead and left. Yuri only shook his head while smiling and pulled the blanket over his head.
The next day, Ryosuke woke up in an empty bed, he looked around for Yumi but she wasn’t in sight. Without thinking much, he got out of bed and walked to the kitchen, there was no Yumi in the kitchen so he decided to go outside in the backyard and still no Yumi. He yawned and entered the house again, heading straight towards Yuri’s room. He opened the door and saw that Yuri was still sleeping, he smiled and walked up to the sleeping body.
“Yuri~” Ryosuke sang softly, Yuri stirred and removes the blanket away from his face, “ohaiyou” Ryosuke greeted Yuri and laid a soft kiss on his lip. “Strange” Yuri said, “what do you mean?”
“You’re in my bedroom in the morning, you’re usually not in here until after 9 since that’s the time that Yumi goes to work”
“I couldn’t find her”
“What do you mean?” Ryosuke shrugs, “maybe she left earlier than usual” Yuri sat up in bed, “something doesn’t feel right Ryo chan”
“What do you mean?” Yuri looked at Ryosuke and then moved the blanket off of him. He slipped on his slippers and headed to the kitchen, he walked up to the counter and saw an envelope addressing to him. Yuri grabbed it and opened it…
Dear Yuri,
By the time you read this letter, I’m already gone from both of you and Ryosuke’s life. I’ve left without telling the both of you so please don’t hate me. So lets see…how to start this, me Yumi is very glad that I’ve met a wonderful person like you Yuri. You’re a very bright person, maybe that’s why Ryosuke fell deeply in love with you and wouldn’t come back to me. Your smile is one of a kind and it can make any men or women fall head over heels for you.
Yes Yuri, I knew about your relationship with Ryosuke, I knew it ever since I got back with Ryosuke. The way how he stares at you, the way how he rather spend time with you than me, and the way how he always brought you along with him on our dates. I knew, and I’m sorry for acting as if I never did. Now you must be wondering why I decided the engagement right? Well, my mom was deciding to marry me off to some random man I’ve never met in my entire life.
I felt like I needed help so I turned to the both of you, forcing Ryosuke to get engage with me and I’m sorry for hurting you in the process, but please understand where I was coming from. Yuri…I leave you this ring, this is the ring that I and Ryosuke got engage with…it was never official in the first place.
I don’t think I’ll ever have the guts or courage to see the both of you ever again, so with my last words, please take care of Ryosuke for you and I. Please let Ryosuke know that I’ll forever love him, he’ll forever be in my heart. But…I know that he will never love me back, the person that he loves forever is already by his side for the longest of time. So…please Yuri, please take care and look after Ryosuke.

Yuri finished reading the letter and turned to the side, Ryosuke was already there reading it behind him. “Ryo chan…” Ryosuke turned Yuri around to face him and hugged him, Yuri cried in Ryosuke’s arm. “It’s okay Yuri…please don’t feel guilty anymore…”
5 years later…
“Tadaima” Ryosuke said as he walked into the house, Yuri popped his head out from the kitchen, “hey” Yuri greeted him. Ryosuke looked up and smiled, happy to see his lover standing there greeting him. He walked up to Yuri and kissed him on the lips, “what’s for dinner?”
“Your favorite” Yuri told him, “tired?” Ryosuke nods and pops his neck, “go take a seat, I’ll join you in a bit” Ryosuke nods and heads off to the living room. Yuri turns off the stove and walked into the living room with a strawberry drink. He places it in front of Ryosuke, “I can’t believe that you still like the flavor strawberry” Ryosuke laughs, “can’t blame me” Yuri nodded and sat down beside him. Ryosuke placed his arm around Yuri’s shoulder and kissed him on the head, “miss me today?” Yuri nods, “I always do”
“I know…mm…say Yuri”
“Mm?”
“Lets go visit parents grave tomorrow, yeah?” Yuri nods, “I kind of miss them anyways” Yuri said and hugged his lover, rubbing his head against Ryosuke’s chest. “And while we’re there, lets pay Yumi a visit too, I’m sure she misses us dearly as well” Yuri suggested, “oh yeah, Yumi too”
“I’ll drop by the flower shop tomorrow to grab some flowers then” Yuri suggested and Ryosuke nods, “hai, you do that then” Yuri smiles and closes his eyes, “Ryo chan”
“Mm?”
“I love you” Ryosuke smiles, “love you too…”
