So today failed majorly because I don't have a job this week, but I did manage to get a few things done... a few lupines, work on Jen's present, and I actually started sculpting, finally, now that I have a stand.
For those who don't know, I want to try making my own ball-jointed dolls, sculpting my own heads and proportionate bodies. I'm not really doing this to save money (because I know that is a lost cause) but because I have certain characters where I know their bodies and heads very well, and can't find something that matches. There's also cases where I have a good head, but can't get a matching resin body that doesn't look just strange... Eventually I want to cast in resin as well, but we'll see how this goes, mm?
So my first attempt is to sculpt a Chachamaru, and I'm starting with the head. That's kind of the most interesting part.
Recap: Chacha (aka "Yukihiro Fujiumura" from the 80s and 90s" is Gackt's first guitarist, and a very experienced and talented musician, having been in the business since he was 13. Before joining GacktJob, he was a member of many prominent progressive rock bands, most notably Gerard, and the progressive rock 'supergroup' he founded, called Vienna. He was born in 1960 in Kyoto.
I have... I don't know, two hours of sculpting work done? I sketched a bit of his head (his face is SO strange) and made him proportionate to the minimee heads I have, since I love 70cm-proportioned dolls.
Unfortunately I can't find my memory card adapter, so I don't have pictures to show. But I'm really enjoying it and fortunately I don't suck as bad as I thought I would! I hope to get some more later and update, since documenting is fun, and while it's not much to look at right now, for my first real work in sculpting I'm pretty happy.
