No, a boat is smaller. Like a sailboat or a dingy. A ship is big, like this thing or a carrier.

Well, sometimes some words have meanings that are really similar to each other but they're not the same. Lots of people get them mixed up, but they're not supposed to. Either they don't know better or they don't care.
Like ship and boat and, uh...Well, there are a lot.
