so this morning I'm hunting the Ripe Rampager in the Dalmasca Westersand and just as I get him to show his annoying little vegetable face, the Playstation begins flashing and skipping and not responding. I reloaded to make sure it wasn't just a bad save file, which would have sucked, but it started again on all my saved games. Then I put in a new disk to make sure it wasn't the memory card, and KHCOM is doing the same thing, from the very first screen.
So. PS2 all dead. My life is over.
*just kidding*
but seriously, I can put my PS1 on there but that woudl mean starting a whole new game. So it's off to the game store (NOT Game Stop, which has never yet treated me like a customer, perferring to treat me like a girl in their He Man Women Haters Club, but Game Haven, which is apparently a smaller chain but which knows how to treat a Paying Customer With Breasts). Hopefully I have enough on my card to get a new one, or used refurbished. I'm not getting a PS3 until they can import PS2. Period. But I can get a PS2 reasonable.
The funny thing is Karma kicked me in the butt today. I would have had the cash for it but I kind of gave it to someone who's going on a trip overseas. I sent the money last night. And this morning, this. Ha ha. Yes, Karma Fairy. I see you smirking. Bitch.
But that's okay. I'm going to work around your nefarious schemes. Just you wait and see.
Yeah, I know, I should just let the thing go silent and start writing. Yeah, I should. If I were a stronger person I would. But PS2 is the delivery system for my drug of choice right now. I don't know if I'm up for cold turkey right now. So... to the store we go...
UPDATE: see, this is why I like Game Haven. I went in there looking for a new PS2 and the guy (who apparently also repairs them) asked what it was doing and when I described it he said "it sounds like your controller's start button is jammed or sticking. Try swapping out the controller and see what happens." And I did. And it WORKED! I'm using my older controller but having NO issues. This store is the best. They did not try to hard sell me on a new system. Although I think I'll take the PS2 in and see if he can get it to accept DVDs like it should but doesn't. If I can get that fixed I'll be happy I have one less piece of hardware to hook up. If it costs more to fix than replace I'll do that instead, but right now, looks like the Karma Fairy took pity on me. Or took the day off. Either one. I'll take it :-)
EDIT: update for maximum wonderfulness, and put behind a cut tag for those who just don't care :-)
