Echoes Down the Corridor

Back when I was in high school, after reading Arthur Miller's The Crucible, there was a short epilogue to the play titled "Footsteps Down the Corridor." It basically detailed what became of Elizabeth Proctor after her husband was executed and Abigail Williams' eventual fate as a prostitute driven out of her hometown.

It was a particularly sad capstone to what was already a sad story, but I can't help but be recalled of the epilogue now. It was not supposed to end this way.
