The Forgotten

Sep 21, 2005 01:25

When we grow up, we tend to forget how we got ourselves into the current position. It really is just a stream of events that, however incongruous in reality, flows coherently into memory and is ever smoothed out over time into a giant mass of experience. Thus, even for the most vigilant and observing, trauma, boredom, happiness, and sadness all lose the sharpness of their original sheen.

That, however, does not mean that what we had done is without consequence or significance. Even today, I am reminded of what had come to pass almost two years ago. The reverberations of the past are long indeed.
