As I mentioned
last week I've started going swing dancing. Well, I went again tonight and had a lot of fun, even though all of the friends I called never got back to me. I met a few new friends there and met some old friends I hadn't seen in a long time there too.
I'm getting better, even after just the two weeks of doing it I can pretty much hold the "standard" steps, and I'm learning quite a few new and fun maneuvers. It makes me want to get in touch with Foothold Dance Company or
Wild Space, although I think that both of them are more progressive/modern styles.
I feel surprisingly good after coming home from dancing, it was a lot of fun!
I also got the hardware for my new firewall assembled tonight - it's an
embedded system, measuring only 6" x 6" x 1", so it's really tiny. I think I'm going to run
m0n0wall on it. I already loaded it on and started configuring it, but unfortunately I need to either get a couple of crossover cables or a hub to finish setting it up.
At work we just upgraded a lot of our networking hardware, so I think I'll ask if I can have the old switch... It's a 24 port 10/100 switch, so quite a nice one.
Since I feel so good after the little workout that I get from dancing, I think I'm really going to research the health clubs in the area... I figure I can wake up an hour to an hour and a half early and go to a club before work. I think I'll feel even better, and it will be really good for me.
Last night was also a good night... I got out to the game and had fun, although it was a bit flightly. The real highlight of the evening was going out with some of the guys from the group and hanging out and chit-chatting after the game. I finally felt like a part of the group, and it was great to get to know them better. They're quite a variety of personalites, but they seem to mesh well. I think they may be a group I can enjoy spending time with for years to come!
