Fair Stuff

OK so we went to the fair.. not opening night but the next night. Where to start? The pig races are not there this year.. total bummer those little guys were a hoot! So far there is no preggo mama pigs for Jenn to watch which is her fave thing so that sux, maybe we will get lucky and one will go into labor and we will see babies. We went to the vendor that sells peanutbutter/chocolate fudge, Jenn waits all year to see them, according to her there is no other fudge equal to theirs. We found some at Costco by a vendor called "fudgiewudgie" (better than fudgie wedgie I suppose) and it was a close second but not quite the same. When we went to their display it turns out they had packed their truck as they left Oregon and went to a rodeo prior to our fair and sold out of Jenns peanutbutter/chocolate pretty much immediately. They had my fave plain fudge with walnuts (keep it simple sailor!) but I resisted the urge so that I wouldn't rub my glee in Jenns face and also so my ever increasing waist would not cause my buttons to fire into orbit! I did get their business card so I can order the fudge she likes and have it sent to her.
Musical distractions were provided by a percussion group I forget their name but they were a lot of fun, we also got to see "Bowling for Soup". OMG! I liked those guys. Not a single song without stopping at least once to talk.. sometimes while they were talking they would play background musice of another band! The lead singer is (I am pretty sure) retarded... ADHD... something ain't right with that kid! and to make matters worse.. the tractor pulls were going on during the concert so he would get distracted and just stop and look over.. once one of the tractors blew an engine and at first all you could smell was the smoke and it was sorta stinkin' a bit and he stopped and was like somethings burnin.. is that us?!! and he played again for a sec and stopped and said it again.. then you could see this big stream of smoke rising up and he proclaimed "nope.. I'm sure of it.. something is burning.. it's a monster truck! we rocked so hard we blew up a truck! In another song they stopped and proclaimed that a first in rock history was about to happen.. we were all wondering what that could be.. and then it happened.. "A Bowling for Soup 'Airbrushed Hat' photo opportunity" it seems while enjoying the midway they had some airbrushed ball caps made so they at that moment decided to stop the music, bring up all the lights and all the guys came center stage then stage right then stage left while strike mad rocker type poses then it was back to the music. They also found the name of our county a bit confusing so instead of the Stanislaus County Fair, they decided they were playing for the "Santa Claus" County Fair. I'm Cereal! (which was the lead singers statement instead of I'm serious all night long) All in all it was quite a fun night. I had a good time and wish they were going to perform for us again. I would happily sit through their show just to see what happens next!
Tonight we are going back and it will be the Doobie Brothers... I am excited!
