It is a sunny afternoon in Manchester. The sun brings much pleasure to those who are often deprived of it. My flatmate is probably quietly seething in her room as my room faces the direction of the sun and my window is situated on the right wall. Whereas she on the other hand even though has the much larger room and the en-suite one too, does not get much natural light filtering in. Her windows are in opposite direction. Small things like that actually bring me some pleasure. Its a way of getting back at her after all that she's done to me and taken advantage of. Her parents have been in our flat since the 5th of December 2009 and they will be here till May. She is not covering more rent but I did manage to make her budge and pay their part of the bills. I have little access to the living room and my friends (if a large group) are limited to coming to my flat only one day of the weekend. Good thing is that everyone is very busy and we mostly meet up outside these days.
I was the passive participant of this whole episode. Right up till end of last month when I went to the Estate agents, the Law Centre AND the Citizens Advice Bureau. And guess what, all of them said that nothing can be done legally since they're my flatmate's guests and all I can do is sort it out with her. Discuss it. That's when I finally gained the strength to stand my ground and tell her what I really thought. She's been friendlier to me since. Not as cold as when I had been passive and meek. I can't believe how patient I managed to be. I even managed tolerating her two sisters here for the whole month of the Christmas holidays. Karma will get back at her. I know that God is All Just and All Knowing so she'll get back what she deserves someday.
Living with randomers is always a big risk. Off to get ready for a lecture. Last day of the Islam Awareness Week and they've got a talk at 5pm titled, "From the Vatican to Al-Azhar'. Should be interesting. They had some free food at the union. MSSM is hosting their annual Chinese New Year open house tomorrow. Should be good! I'm looking forward to eating all the Malaysian food.
