So I know long ago there was a truce agreed upon by my friends on here to avoid talking about politics and in that spirit I am going to warn all of you that my posts between now and November 4th are going to be purely about politics so if you want to avoid the subject feel free to skip over my entries, I won't be offended. However if you do read ( Read more... )

Ok, I'll start.

I'm a big fan of Obama. I have a button to prove it.

Atta girl! I have a button too, Andrae got it for me! Out of curiosity what do you like about him particularly since I know you supported Hilary in the primaries?

I enjoy him thoroughly. I wish Hilary won the primary but what are you going to do? Both candidates were good, I just supported Hilary more. I think it was silly of him not to pick her for VP, but I could see why he wouldn't want to, I just wish he did. What a dream, and really, the election would be over.

My thoughts are that a VP candidate should, in theory, be someone who fits into the background of the election by filling holes in your resume or electoral map without drawing too much attention to yourself. Hilary would not have fit into this mold and would have made the ticket too much about herself. Would she have helped him get elected? Yes. Would she have been a divisive force once they got into the White House? Yes. That is why I think he didn't choose her. Now with Sarah Palin it's a different story. John McCain wanted someone to capture the public eye because he sure as hell wasn't doing it, however most of the press about their campaign since her addition to the ticket has been negative so it appears to have backfired.

Exactly why I see why he didn't pick her... but it would have been nice. Biden was an ok choice I guess, Mike has explained to me why he would pick Biden and it makes sense, and while Biden says silly things, it's nothing compared to Palin... which is another political discussion altogether.

Haha yea she's going to be the topic of papers, articles, and discussions for at least the next year. I just worry that she's going to scare the Republican party away from nominating a woman again for a while which is a shame because they were finally starting to be more inclusive. I think Joe Biden is a very capable leader and will fit into Obama's administration nicely. So as a Clinton supporter would you feel slighted if she were offered a cabinet position or would you want her to be a part of the administration?

I think she could do well anywhere. I hope she's a part of this time in our struggle somehow, we're doing pretty shitty and a Clinton is what we need (but not Bill, he can go get a Big Mac... I love the guy but lately he's said some crazy stuff).

Yea Bill runs his mouth a little too much. I love the Clintons but I'm excited that for basically the first time in our lives we'll have someone besides a Bush or Clinton in the White House.
