So far, the
Rock and Bowl arrangements were a bit diffuse, and I know you all want details. So here are the details!
The cover charge for the place (because of the live music) is $10/person. The band is Rockin' Dopsie (pronounced Doop-see), Jr. & The Zydeco Twisters. Rock and Bowl lanes are all reserved until 9:30, at which point they have open bowling. I'll reserve a pair of lanes for us at 9:30 PM, for two hours each. The total charge is $80 ($20/lane/hour), which we'll divide over the number of bowlers (I'm guessing 8 of us actually bowling, so figure around $10/person). In addition, there is a $1/person charge for renting those interesting multi-colored shoes.
The best way to get there is by taxi, and it should be about a $10 (and 10 minute) ride each way. With at least two or three people in each taxi, I'm thinking that's how we'll go. The nice lady at the Rock and Bowl told me that they'd be happy to help us get cabs for the trip back to the Quarter.
Astute observers will note that the original times for the Rock and Bowl were a little earlier on Saturday night than our actual lane reservation time. However, this means we leave a bit later, and can enjoy a more leisurely dinner or post-prandial relaxation. I suggest that we get taxis right around 9 PM from the Maison Dupuy (or your hotel, if it's different), and hang out until the open lanes are available at 9:30. With a two hour lane rental, we should be back before midnight.
See you Thursday night!
