Fish market’s pier

2011 morning! Okay, this is but a late report of what happened yesterday.

My plan is to go to check a restaurant in Kemang, but they’re not having business that day, still in New Year vacation. That means next time, probably two weeks after this if I cancelled my plan on taking the train to Puspiptek botanical park.

The part that’s more like adventure is after that. Rather than just going straight home, I want to check that place I saw in aerial photo map yesterday, a wave breaker in the fishermen area of Muara Angke. The longer wall is further away and I’m going by foot, so I choose the closer shorter pier instead.

The place itself is crowded by locals who want to enjoy the sea cheaply. Ancol is not exactly affordable. In addition, there’s also boat ride around the harbour and ferry to nearby islands. The ocean is more or less like in Ancol, after all, this is the same Jakarta gulf, so the wind smelled the same.

The walk there is not as comparable though. While it might be exciting to watch the local activities, it’s not exactly pleasant, smell especially. The place is a fish market, naturally it smell fishy. The street is wet by water from the melted packing ices just dumped to the street, adding to that smell. Unlike streets outside, dust gathers thick, and mixing with water it creates black muddy stuffs. What looks like black oils are not helping at all.
By the way, taking car ride is not that pleasant either, because the street is narrow.
