keeping busy is the key

I've been keeping myself busy the last 3 days so as not to think on my presentation Monday. The mere thought steals my breath. I've taken a lot of "deep, calm breaths" these past few days...

A friend came to stay over for a week, left today. We planned to do all kinds of fun stuff but with everything going on we didn't even have dinner together:(

Made new deer and bear brooches for The Time Is Now shop, and I'm also working on new cross-stitched silhouette portraits. Would you pay 60 cents more to have the pin come in a gift box? Will upload 1-2 pins a day. As soon as I find the time I will update The Antlered Kitsune shop, which also went through a small revamp.

Lamiel concluded her masterpiece This Present Darkness a few weeks back but I failed to make note of it here. My and templa_otmena were beside ourselves, of course. Lamiel also promised a short story in a few weeks' time. And she now has an LJ account! lamiel_writes, but you didn't hear it from me;)

templa_otmena, I also found this story on the MEFA website (told you I'd go looking). It's angsty, it's touching, it's a bite size delight - only problem with it is its length. I think because it's only 7 chapters the pacing is off for me, but because I like the dialogue and the the setting as a whole I'm willing to overlook that. If I would vote in the MEFA I think I would vote for it in its category. I'm tempted to call it a mini-Lamiel (there's something of the bitter-sweetness in which she so excels), but I don't want to do the disservice of flippant comparison to Nightdew who I'm sure worked hard on the story. And By the Love of Him Also by Nightdew.

I have 1 book ready, 1 embroidered cut-to-size carry bag, I have 8 briefs written, designed and printed, original drawings to hang, I now have a white chair to sit/lean on for presentation (yes, I realize the levels of obsession I've reached). Don't have: 2 more books (pick up on Sunday), 2 more embroidered carry bags, table, presentation space (lots of confusion with the exhibition construction already underway. And me and Tali -well, mostly Tali- already painted white our assigned space!), and my speech cheat sheet. I'm making - you guessed it!- a small papercut booklet to read from. I want everything to match.

Sunday will be busy - I have to go to the Academy to see friends' presentations, steal a table and paint it white, prepare my space, and go to Tel-Aviv to pick up the books and the custom-made letterpress plate for my business card. Because have I mentioned - I'm making letterpressed business cards (thought it's the best alternative to freehand cutting 100 cards. I've come to value my time.) I hope they'll turn out alright, I still don't know how on earth I'll press the cards at home. The Print Workshop at school is of course already closed for the exhibition.

I have to go do something now. Just sitting here writing all this makes me nervous. Keeping busy is the key! I'm going to embroider. I probably should start working on what to say, though. So I won't sound like I don't know what I'm talking about. Where are all my family and friends who said they'll be my test-audience?

final project, my shop, friends, etsy, fanfiction
