Happy St. Valentine's Day &
Standing on the Side of Love Day!
This St. Valentine's Day the UU Church is sponsoring a campaign to support equality for the LGBT Community called
Standing on the Side of Love Day - Check it out.
Fasting today which I'll break tomorrow morning after honoring Luperca. The trip to the Library was well worth it as I found some bits which will be very useful in the write up.
Edit:
You know the thought occurs - I'm surprised they didn't invoke one of the most common hagiographical stories about St. Valentine (first appears around the 1400s but it's now the most common & important bit - I'm lazy so I'll let a recent news story summarize it):
St. Valentine was arrested during the reign of Roman Emperor Claudius II. Claudius had banned his young soldiers from marrying based on the belief they would be better soldiers if single. St. Valentine violated that ban and secretly married young couples until his arrest, the news agency said. The story ends with St. Valentine converting his jailer before being martyred by being beheaded.
